every which way

every which way

Garvin was certain of it now. His brother Ruben would never forgive him.

"I don't believe it." Ruben looked crushed. Why in the world would Garvin go off to Colorado Springs to get married?"You marry people all the time, and here you and Tessa go and marry yourself in the wilderness!"

"Well..there's really nothing wrong with that. You, can do it, in that state, as long as you get your license." Garvin looked at his brother wide-eyed.

They were alone now after dinner, washing dishes. Tessa was out in the vegetable garden with Dorian and Abe, picking zucchini.

Ruben was steamed. Garvin could tell his brother was ready to throw the skillet across the kitchen, as he scrubbed on it.

"Look," Garvin went on to dry another dish. "She only had two weeks vacation, and well, a wedding takes time to plan. We just wanted to spend time together." Couldn't his brother see how short time was? After all, Abe would be going into first grade. The world was changing by leaps in bounds, and then stuff like this with his brother, never changed. Evidently. Garvin sighed.

"I wanted to be there, you know. Celebrate with you." Ruben looked at him.

"I know. I'm sorry." Garvin sighed as he picked up another dish to dry. "I wish Tess' brother could think that way." He wondered  now if that was why they'd rushed this. Her brother disapproved. "But..we're happy now. We're really happy."

Garvin smiled. He loved getting back to nature with Tessa. He felt he was right where he was suppose to be. Life was good.
