Here we go

here we go

Holly took refuge in the kitchen. She didn't want to say anything to Halie, unless...she really had too. And lord knows, what she might say.

As it was, she knew she'd said too much about herself. Even Dustin didn't know this stuff.

1. How she had to get away from her step-mother.
2. No way was she ever going home again.
3. She really wished she could make soul-food.
4. If she had a real job, maybe she and Dustin could find their own place.

But Gage's mother Claire, only listened. Holly helped with a salad. Honestly, she hadn't been this domesticated, in forever.

"Maybe, you could come over on Sunday nights and help out with dinner." Clare looked at her, as if she was glad she was here.

"Oh, yeah, maybe." She told Clare she spent most of her time at the boarding house. "I want to live there with Dusty, but since I've got this dormroom paid up, and all." Still, she did spend a lot of night with the love her life. Then he'd make her feel guilty ever so often and she'd get back to the dorm. "But I do study better, when I'm with Dusty." Holly sighed a smile as she put the finishing touches on the green salad.

She looked to the livingroom and found Halie all by her lonesome. The boys took the baby outside.

"Would you like some lemonade?" Holly called from the kitchen doorway. Holly was about to pour herself some.

Halie looked at her as if she didn't want anyone to ask her a question, but she finally said, "Sure."

Holly went to find the glasses and ice. Still, she wasn't sure she was up to this task.

What could she ever find to say? Wasn't Halie..Dusty's first love? Holly cringed at the thought.

Still, the next question to pop out of Holly's mouth when she brought the lemonade to Halie, "Were you surprised? You know, Dusty seeing someone like me?"
