And I'm not ashamed to say

and I'm not ashamed to say

Xander felt a little dizzy. It had been a long night. Now he felt he'd worried for nothing. At least, Joey was safe and sound.

"Sorry." Joey said rather quick. "I wanted you..to know that..first." Joey sat as if he was about to turn himself in, for something really bad. "I know, all this..hasn't..hasn't been fair..to..to either you or Ducky." He sighed. "I'm sorry if I worried you." He kept his head down. Finally he looked Xander in the eye. "I..I think I should..try to get out on my own. Move out. I mean, I still want to see Dakota."

"What have you been doing?" Xander snapped, but Ducky stood behind him and rested his hand on his shoulder.

"Oh, just some thinking. I..I wanted to be alone..and I can't really think..here." Joey winced.

Xander knew he was full of crap, but he knew his husband Ducky would want him to let it go.

"Fine." Xander was a bit more gruff than he meant, too. "I dunno, what your counselor will say."

"Its..all right..WE..I talked to her at lunch. We met with her." He nodded.

"Really?" Xander couldn't help but to doubt him. Xander finally nodded with a festered frown.

"Look, we might not stay friends, if..if I keep living here." His smile was impish. Xander felt they hadn't been friends in a very long time. "You'll see, it'll be better this way. Even..even for Dakota."

"How can you say that?" Xander's voice almost cracked. He squinted tears. He knew in his heart who Dakota wanted most. It wasn't him. She wanted her father.

"You're .. you're her Uncle Xander. She likes it here." He nodded. His smile was just not right. Xander wondered what was really going on with him. But Xander didn't have time to ask the foolish question. Was Joey seeing his imaginary friend, Chelsea again?
