I ship us

I ship us

"At the hospital?" Will didn't like what he was hearing from Ivy, over his smart phone. He was already at the library, putting books away. "Why do you have to be there with Simon?"

This was really strange, he thought. It was January, the dead of winter with temps below zero, snow turning to gray. He sighed, thinking she was too nice for her own good, but she'd gone in the ambulance with Simon.

Where was Simon's girlfriend? Wasn't she always by his side?

Will couldn't help, but to be a bit disgruntled. "You could..could get sick..yourself," Will said. He didn't mean to be jealous. He wasn't. But he thought of the last time he went in for an appointment, all those people sick with pale mask. Which he learned, that didn't do a thing for anyone with the flu. Other than letting one know..they were sick.

"Come to the library."After he said it. He knew she wouldn't. "I'll come and get you, on my break." That was in another hour. "I don't want you at the hospital."

"But..but.."

"He does not need you. Not now." Will told her to let the professionals do their job. "He needs rest." Will wanted to tell her she was in the way. What ever Simon had, he didn't want Ivy catching it.

"Don't be mad," Ivy said.

"I'm not." But he knew he didn't sound like it. "I'm just thinking of you. Please, be careful." It was the first time he'd ever said it, to actually anyone.

When he got off the phone, the realization set in that she was the most important person in his life, and it choked him up.
