the drawbacks of apartment living

the drawbacks of apartment living

Joon winced hard when he heard Ivy over the phone, how she wanted him to come over.

"Right now?" There was a twitch in his left eye. He was certain now it might be a sinus infection and he couldn't do a thing about it. After all, he was in the middle of building shelves for the livingroom in the new apartment. He was having to hold his tongue, to keep from cursing like a sailor.

"Please." Ivy begged. She said he could get a free meal. They hadn't seen him and Natalie in ages. Although, he begged to differ. He'd only been out of their house, a little over a week."There is someone I want you to meet."

"Why?" He sighed, trying to keep from sinking to a new level, that he was starving and missing Ivy's mother's food. Natalie was still learning and he was tired of her experiments already, but he didn't want to upset her.

"I..just..want you to meet someone." She told him.

"Who?" He frowned, hoping she wasn't putting him in a bad mood, but the idea of her mother's leftovers in the fridge did perk him up.

"Some..some friends are here from Chicago," Ivy said.

"Maybe..maybe we shouldn't." Joon didn't want to bother her family's couple.

"Yes, you should," Ivy said. "You, have to meet them."

"OK." Joon needed a break from the shelves before he went mad. He wasn't nearly as cool as Natalie insisted. He really couldn't follow directions as well as he thought he could. Evidently. But he didn't want to start over on the shelving unit, either.
