moving on

Winnie didn't know what to do. Especially, with everyone out, picking up debris after the storm and she was stuck at home with Bella. Of course, Doyle went to work not even knowing if the power was on there. Still, he knew where he needed to be.

She held on to the baby as much as she could, but the baby was crawling now and only wanted to be held to breastfeed.

When the power came on, she watched the news for some time, listening and seeing all the tragedies of narrow escapes and horrific devastation of volcanos and the like, splitting families apart. Such sorrow she could hardly manage to think while even doing the dishes.

She decided to make pizza dough with a cup a greek yogurt and a cup of self-rising flour. It was good to do something with her hands while Bella dragged out pots and pans and made her own music.

It wasn't long after the pizza was done that Joon and Will showed up, hungry.

"How's it going out there?" She asked Joon.

"Not bad." Still, there was a lot of cleaning up to do. They were moving broken trees near the driveway so someone from City could pick it up. "It could have been worse." He shrugged.

"That house caught on fire just a few blocks away." Will looked at both of them that this storm was serious.

A shiver shot through Winnie, who didn't know the lightning strike was that close. She'd seen on the news it was a total loss. She went to check on Bella who hadn't quite made it to the bathroom while crawling in the hallway.

"Where's Natalie?" She'd meant to ask earlier but everyone was outdoors tackling the mess in the humidity.

"She's with her friend at the emergency room," Joon told her. "You know, the one who's pregnant."

"Oh, no." Winne's eyes lit as if she would hate for anything to happen.

"It's just a precaution." Joon doubted anything was really wrong.

Winnie nodded, hoping she was OK. She was going to tell Joon to take them some pizza but Joon and Will finished off the cheese pizza in no time.
