what's holding you back

Cody wasn't sure if he was any help to his old friend Brian. He was glad he wasn't in Brian's situation. He was certain that would be the death of him if he ever started a family. Cody liked his freedom. Still, he wasn't sure he was thrilled with his life either.

Actually, he'd hoped he would have hooked up with Gabby by now. After all, she was the one who got away back in high school. But he'd seen her recently had a college frat mixer and she was pretty tight with her date. Being with her didn't look feasible.

Of course, his dating life was darting old acquaintances than meeting girls. Hell, half the time, he didn't even remember going out with them. Usually, he was pretty drunk when he did sleep with them. Still, he kept his wits about him. There was always the thought, he still might be the one. But it hadn't happened yet.

Naturally, he had to watch his roommate Liam all giggly with his girlfriend Lizzy. Liam hadn't came through with setting him up with Lizzy's roommate. Seriously, Liam was getting on Cody's nerves. He didn't like how cozy Liam was with Lizzy.

Cody knew no way could he muster up such sweetness. The girl would be sure to know it was fake if he acted that way.

Cody was going on twenty-four, he should be over his college days. Still, he was set in his ways, even if he wasn't happy. He knew settling down wouldn't make him happy either. If only Gabby would remember how much he enjoyed her company. Yes, he was certain she was the one who got away.
