One day or day one

When Jory thought about it now, he didn't know what was going on. True, there was food and that was all he needed.

He didn't want to complain but all it seemed lately was the post office being in a fuss how everyone was too slow. Of course, they waited for mail bags to arrive. It wasn't like it was all the carrier's doing and as much as he'd wanted to go off the deep end, thinking to stand up for his right, that being efficient was more important than hurrying to get the mail delivered, Jory kept his cool.

Not that he'd had any complaints on his route, but he could see no one wanted to hear about his world at the post office.

He looked at them as if they were all a bunch of college brats, but there was food and he ate and he wanted to go to bed. And that's what he did.

Except when he woke up he realized he was in the wrong apartment. Had they told him this?

He was in a squint because he didn't even remember. Still, the bathroom was cleaner than the one at Poppy's. He took a shower and felt refreshed.

So maybe he wasn't happy with Poppy, either. He thought her attitude would have been different. He wasn't sure what it would be, but not this. She was pretty much set her ways. He was beginning to think. But then again, maybe he was set in his ways too.

Granted, he was thrilled to find a girl like her. He loved the idea of someone wanting to take care of him. That wasn't easy these days. Of course, he never had time for a girl in his mundane life, but she'd been so sweet in the beginning. Now she made him feel he never did enough. Out went the romance and it was getting on his nerves.

But still. What happened? He really felt he was missing something. Although, he really didn't want to go banging on her door at four in the morning. He always got up at four just to read, maybe do a crossword puzzle and have some coffee, and wait to have a good poo before breakfast.

Now it felt like this freakish freedom in a very quiet place.

What was Poppy doing right now? Was she with-

He tilted his head and scratched the side of his head and winced once more in his new room at his desk. Trying to mull it all over. Something about, things weren't working out. Poppy told him she thought he should stay at Simon and Steve's for awhile.

Where was Alfie?

Jory drew a small frown. He'd been undermined somehow. It wasn't like Poppy was all that happy to see him like she used to (when they first met).

He shook his head, thinking he couldn't sit here and worry about it. He was a postman.

Jory went to the kitchen and looked in the fridge. Steve already had his lunch made and there was breakfast to warm up.

Jory only shrugged and put the egg burrito in the microwave. He had a feeling he was going to like it a whole lot more here than at Poppy's.

  2. I'm relieved Jory takes it mildly (change of room,Poppy, Alfie ..).It appears he's more interested in food and in his work as a postman. So far, so good.

    1. Thanks. I see a lot of people waiting for work these days and then there are those who get stuck in job too. I feel he's much more grownup than this circle of so-called friends. Still, he might have more feelings than he wants to admit.

  5. At least he's got a job to put food on the table. He seems to be responsible and that's good.

  7. I feel for Jory...who does have to work. And his job isn't easy, but I am glad he does it. And I think he might be the mature one after all.

    1. Communication is key, but I don't think it will save Jory and Poppy. Some people go to certain links to avoid confrontation. Sometimes, they make things worse.

  13. Hi Ellie! I liked your text. I'd like to be able to wake up at four too, to read and get coffee and kicking with the day early. But I think this will never happen to me in real life haha.
By the way, thank you for letting me know that your list doesn't get updated everytime I post. It seems like it got stuck at that post. I don't know how to fix it but it has been happening to my mum too.
    Take care :)
