There is absolutely no excuse for what I'm about to do

When Jory got home, he could see Dan was in a deep conversation on the phone. He imagined it was Ivy, who seemed to be the only person who ever called him.

Jory went to shower and change. Dan was still on the phone. Jay shook his head. This couldn't be good.

He thought he heard music then. It was the tango. He winced slightly wondering what was going on. He looked out the hallway and noticed Rachel's door was open.

She saw him as she was trying to do the dance alone. "Come dance with me," Rachel extended her hand as if she might reel him in from across her living room.

Jory looked at her as if she might be possessed.

"I don't have my mask." He was a matter of fact, yet he was still watching her as if she might be a charmed snake dancer.

"That's OK, I've been vaccinated." She assured him which left Jory squinting more thinking what kind of come on line was that. Still, he stood at the doorway watching her, as if she might start a solo belly dance in the snug dance outfit she was wearing. Finally, she coaxed him in. She needed to learn the tango before her friend's summer wedding.

He guessed he could try. He'd had some dance lessons but that was back in elementary school.  He didn't think of himself as a dancer of any kind. But suddenly, it felt right. Even if he were a bit clumsy.

Actually, it made him laugh. She was no Ginger Rogers.

"What's so funny?" Rachel pursed her lips as if he better keep quiet as she moved toward him and he took a step or two back, thinking they might end up on the floor. Dang ...if that didn't happen on her clean wood floor.

He hit his head harder than expected and she was right on top of him.

"I don't think we can learn the tango this way," Jory chuckled. But she didn't move. She hugged him as if she'd missed a human embrace. "It's OK, I'll stay and watch Youtube with you." Although, he wasn't sure she'd ever get off of him. Jory promised they'd figure this Tango without getting tangled up.

  1. If a wedding was coming up. she had to practice. 'One needs two to tango', as they say. Well, Rachel and Jory appear to be a perfect couple.

  3. Such a cute and clever chapter! From ""That's OK, I've been vaccinated." She assured him which left Jory squinting more thinking what kind of come on line was that." to "She was no Ginger Rogers." to, my favorite, "Jory promised they'd figure this Tango without getting tangled up." it sparkles with rom com charm. Can't wait to see what happens with these two!
