Not a brilliant beginning nor ending

Bom wasn't sure if she was up for this new gig of hers. Being pregnant was life changing.  Of course, she took her time letting her parents know. Naturally, they wanted to know when she'd get married. They were certain this was the most important thing.

Of course, it wrecked her with guilt and she practically felt listless at times. This was not who she was. It was a troubling time. Brian wasn't exactly that excited.  And he worked more than usual as of late.

"I know, it's that damned if you do, damned if you don't feeling," Ivy practically gave her a chick face pout over the matter. She at least came by these days to hang out with her and Keanu when she could.

"I just don't know," A lot was troubling Bom. She thought she was the worst friend.

"About what?" Ivy winced and pushed more Girl Scout cookies toward Bom. They were mint and definitely not her favorite anymore.

"Oh, I said some things to Minnie I shouldn't have," Bom remained even lipped.

"You've been talking to Minnie?"

"I mentioned something about..Jay," Bom looked up at Ivy, thinking she should have kept her mouth shut. She winced more thinking it was true. She was a terrible friend. Stirring up trouble for no good reason. Evidently.

"What about Jay?" Now Ivy was tense.

Bom shook her head and said it was nothing.

"Oh, it was evidently NOT nothing, spill." Ivy hugged herself as she leaned back in the dining chair keeping her eye on Bom.

"I don't want to bring it up." Bom pressed her lips tight. It was the past. Nothing had happened then. Nothing would happen now with Jay and Minnie.

"What?" Ivy would not let it go.

"Oh, it's just how he was, when..when he came back and how..how..." Bom shook her head, no. "He was.."

"Was what?" Ivy set up and shot her a look.

"He..he wanted to get back with Minnie."

"When was he ever with Minnie?" Ivy screeched. The baby cried. She went to get her from her infant seat and proceeded to hush her by nursing her.

Bom practically rolled her eyes, thinking she'd really done it this time. Where was her mind, lately?

"Apparently, Jay knew Minnie when she was in high school," Bom sighed. She looked at Ivy and said, "Nothing happened. OK?"

Ivy only swelled a frown. Suddenly, she was not talking. She looked away as if this was the worst news ever.
