The story of us

Liam didn't know how it all went so crazy. Oddly, Emily's family liked his family and before he knew it her parents were on the phone with his parents all the time.

He didn't know what went right. He had to keep thinking it was right. Although, the night she stayed a little too late at his place, changed everything.

"Well, don't you think it's time for you two to get married?" Her father wasted no time answering the big question when Liam brought Emily home a bit after midnight. After all, Liam hadn't planned on a family meeting. Before he knew it, his family was on the phone thanks to Emily's dad. They wanted to know too.

At that point, he wanted to say NO WAY, but a week later he changed his mind when he found out how sick her dad actually was.

"How can that be?" Liam asked Emily if she knew. "He sounds so good and all."

Emily was upset and suddenly he felt the need to be with her. She didn't know and he could see she was just as angry as sad.  As the weeks wore on with hospital stays and treatments for her father's cancer, Liam moved in.

He felt bad that her dad hadn't had more time to go on all these trips he'd planned, but then again there was COVID.

Of course, he'd left the house to Emily and her brother. Her father already found a condo to move into with Emily's mother. It was well planned.

Actually, he wondered how well planned it was. Had he been in the plan for a long time now? It was a question that got to him every night before bed, but he could see Emily wouldn't take kindly to such a question.

If he just went with it, everything was going to be OK. It wasn't like he hated her. Yes, he was fond of her. But she made him wonder if this was really the way it should be? It was true, he'd always wanted a family that cared about each other. And if he didn't keep pondering this in his mind so much, he knew he was happy. Yet to be happy that meant Emily had to be happy.

  8. Oh, now I understand why Liam and Emily got engaged so quickly! And part of me is like, this is no way to start a marriage, whereas the other part is like, now hold on, many a happy love story has started as a mere marriage of convenience. But then I read this, and the pendulum swung back the other way: "It wasn't like he hated her." Ouch. There's no coming back from that. Still, I hope it works out for them, but if not, then at least there will be drama!

Lovely yellow pinafore in the collage. You've really been bringing the sunshine yellow. :)

I didn't know that you were into painting. I hope that whoever walked off with your rocks is enjoying them -- and that they don't walk off with anything else!

  16. Parent's experience and request are important but Emily and Liam should marry because of they love eachother not because of the parent want it.

  17. I think that when happiness of another person becomes the most important thing to us, that is love.
