Finding the thankful

"He did call," Vanna said about the Jay matter. "He said he was going home to see his mom. He said she'd been sick."

She and Koda had Thanksgiving with Slater and Misty at Misty's place. Of course, Misty was doing her best not to be around them. Slater did the cooking and Koda helped too.

Vanna set back watching. Although, Misty was wanting Vanna to help her learn to crochet. It wasn't going well.

"Do you think he's OK?" Vanna looked at Slater as if he should be more concerned about Jay, but he seemed to be preoccupied. "What the hell happened?"

"Um, you're with Koda," Misty snapped. "What's that about?"

She only sighed, thinking this was not the way she wanted to spend Thanksgiving. Koda could have baked a big chicken breast instead. She wanted to see more of his cooking skills.

Later Jay mentioned that Koda used to play baseball. "I thought you got a scholarship?"

Koda laughed it off. Evidently, University life was not for him. "It was my only chance and when I lost that..well, you know how it is?" He looked at Jay who gave him a been there, done that look.  They ate a late Thanksgiving and after it was over and the dishes were done, Vanna's sister sent her a picture and a text. "Do you think you can take care of this, Baby?"

"Oh my gawd!" Vanna screamed. Her sister was giving her her old car.

What was going on? Alfie couldn't help but be suspicious when he saw Lynsey at Poppy's father's house. He was a little bug-eyed taking it all in. Of course, Poppy was stressing a smile. After all, all she managed to bring was cranberry sauce.

"She's a dear friend of mine," her father Charles said. He was holding Lynsey's baby as if he might be the best grandfather in the world. Alfie knew Poppy was thrown out of her element. She's been stressed about what to wear and what they could expect.

Honestly, the meal was elegant. Her father did have money. Evidently. And..and Lynsey..was she a well-kept woman, too?

"What is going on?" He finally asked when he did the dishes and Poppy and her dad were off looking at old pictures when he used to live in Paris. Baby Erro was asleep so they had plenty of time to talk.

"What does it matter to you?" She wouldn't even look at him.

"Of course, it matters. You have always mattered to me." He told her. He scrubbed a pot and then a dish and rinsed both as if he was an artist of some kind in dishwashing.

"Everything is falling apart, OK." Lynsey could barely speak. "I don't want to talk about it."

"You don't want to talk-" he signed hoping not to raise his voice. "About our baby."

She swelled a frown but didn't cry. "It wasn't yours."

Now he really gave her a serious look. She broke down with the palms of her hands over her eyes. "Yes, I was going to get rid of it. But I had a miscarriage at the abortion clinic." She made it sound as if she felt even more torn over the past. Finally, she looked at him. There in the kitchen. "Go ahead, hate me. Everyone else does."

  3. Hope Koda baked a big chicken breast for Thanksgiving. What bout salad? our "Spoon salad" really goes well with that dish.

  4. What a finale! Paternity issue. 'He (baby Erro) is not yours' says Lynsey to Alfie, in the kitchen.

    1. Actually, this is about a pregnancy that happened over five years ago. Lynsey has a baby with Casey..his name Erro.

  9. So happy to hear Vanna gets a car. I wonder who will help her in this situation? Of course, it was good that Alfie could talk to Lynsey. Naturally, one wonders what Casey is doing on Thanksgiving and how Poppy feel about this situation. Of course, we may have only gotten to the tip of the iceberg with Lynsey's story.

  12. Wow! First, Koda becomes part of the crew -- but not really, at least if Misty has anything to say about it! The bright spot of Vanna getting a car is excellent. I may have mentioned this before, but I saw her face claim on the Dolls Kill site (again) recently and thought, oh, I know your story. As for the Lynsey storyline, I never dreamed that Charles's daughter would be Poppy! Nice one. Her being there with Alfie just opened a whole can of worms. I felt terrible for Lynsey when Poppy wondered (even to herself) if Lynsey was a well-kept woman.

It sounds like you had a fun Thanksgiving! Even if, as you say, "the person who brought the veggie tray guarded it with her life." Oh my! And that apple cranberry pie does indeed sound delicious. Hosting is hard; no wonder you just wanted to chill the rest of the weekend. I was only on dessert duty, but it still sort of wiped me out.
