It's just us

Honestly, Lily knew exactly how Harley felt about kicking somebody because if there was anyone she wanted to kick (possibly in the butt) it would be Rafe. Why was he so slow?

"Are you sick?" She jumped to the conclusion as she was waiting for him to come on but he was still in the bathroom. She made a face of disgust. Was it so much to ask for him to meet up with friends? It was going to be just at the park, out in the open. Mercer would be there with Brooklyn and Brick said he would be there with Harley. He'd even asked someone if they wanted to meet Cade and Cade said sure when he knew Mercer was going to be there.

Of course, Rafe didn't answer her.

"What are you doing?" She snapped and this time she kicked the door open, hoping he wasn't actually pooping. It was worse. He was trying to pop a pimple at the bathroom mirror.

"RAFE!" Nobody was home to stop her. "Are you kidding me?" Was this a way of self-harm of some kind? She would never. But he kept poking. Something about his mother always popped his pimples.

Lily looked at him blankly. And all this time she just thought he had clear skin. She pulled his hand back and looked at his face closely.

"You're fine. You look fine." Of course, she didn't inspect him as if she was some kind of animal mother.

"You'd say that." He was moody.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

That's when he had to tell her what he saw at the bakery. She'd been talking to Brick.

"Now you'd bring it up," she tilted her head as if she knew his kind, passive-aggressive. "Why didn't you just come out and say something then if you saw us."

"I was waiting for you to bring it up." He was closed-mouth about it.

"Does it look like we got back together?" She stood there with her arms crossed watching his face, hoping for some emotion but she got nothing. She wanted to tell him that she wondered what she saw in him, but she knew it wouldn't do a lick of good. He'd be mad about that too. Then they might have such a fight they'd never get to the park to meet up with everyone for the pizza that Matty's Dad was bringing.

Finally, she just grabbed the collar of his tee and pulled him down closer, and kissed him. Evidently, he needed to be kissed because he kissed her back.

  4. Ooooo...I like the last part:D I'm such a sucker for romance. But TBH, I honestly can kinda relate to Rafe...sigh....love is so complicated!
PS I wish we have Five Below here. The closest thing I can think of is Walmart which is not really the same. And how is the crocheting going? I had to buy some yarn coz my youngest wanted a vest for school, so that's my next project:D

  9. I'm with Rafe. There is something weirdly satisfying about popping pimples (even if Lily doesn't agree), and you've captured it. I love what you say about Lily here: "Of course, she didn't inspect him as if she was some kind of animal mother." An animal mother! It's such an unusual description, yet so apropos. And to think that all this acne action led to a kiss. One never knows when romance -- or a pimple -- may blossom! 💟
