So take a look at what you've done

Jen wished she knew what to say to Yuki about ...Zelli. Of course, half the time when they were on the phone talking or texting, she was imagining how it used to be with Corin. Yes, they'd had their ups and downs too. But it was fun, even the drama when she looked back on it now.

Perhaps, they weren't perfect for each other, either, but no one is perfect. She must have said this time and time again to Yuki. Yes, maybe she didn't want a real romance either. It took a lot out of you to be there every step of the way.

Jen let slip one late night that she had a daughter.

"A daughter?" Yuki sounded as if that was the end. Jen was so afraid she might hang up. It was as if she'd let Yuki down, too.

"It was just something that happened when..when Corin and I broke up the first time," Jen was honest. "I did want to make it work with Amy's father, but in the end, it was just a lie."

"Where is your daughter now?" Yuki wanted to know as if she'd given her up for adoption or something. Of course, Jen got the feeling Yuki was thinking of her own real family when she was left her behind.

"Amy is with her Dad. I..I was so depressed during the pandemic..and..and I'd just lost Corin..and..and well, I couldn't possibly take care of her..and .... now..now I'm just leaving it alone because, you know, she..she likes her school. She likes her friends. I don't want to mess that up." Jen admitted.

"You should see her." It sounded like a demand of some kind. It only left Jen wincing in tears. How could Yuki say something like that? But in her heart, she knew Yuki was right.

"I just don't know how," she sighed. "But..but I don't want you to give up on Zelli either. This might be life-changing for you, but it might make you so happy." Yes, she did want to see other people happy.

"It's just," Yuki sighed. "Zelli..Zelli doesn't want me talking to you."

"What?" This shocked Jen. People had never put her on that kind of level. "What do you mean?"

"She..she says it's not a big deal," Yuki started. "It's just she was furious when we went to yoga together that Saturday she said she had some library program to do but then it got canceled..and..and...."

"Oh." Jen was still in shock. She wasn't sure if she ever wanted to meet Yuki's girl now. "But..but it was just yoga." There were people there. They weren't alone. It wasn't like there was anything physical. She cringed then. Yes, she'd told Yuki she was sexy that day, but it wasn't like she was coming on to her. Jen shivered then. Maybe there was something between her and Yuki. She shook her head, no. She didn't think Yuki would see it that way.

"I'm sure it'll all go all right," Jen didn't like drama. It could take a toll on your health which could lead to your wealth. "I'll try not to be in the way."

"You know, I like going places with you. Remember we're getting manicures and pedicures," Yuki reminded her.

"Right," Jean smiled. Yuki had never had her nails done. Still, it left her stung after the phone call. What was happening here? Oh, they were just good friends.

  1. Jen and Yuki are still friends after the 2 surprises: 1. Jen surprised Yuki with telling her she's got a daughter. 2. Yuki surprised Jen by telling her Zelli opposes to her talking to Jen.

  2. That's heartbreaking about Jen. And then she gets that news about Yuki's daughter not wanting them to do things. No wonder Jen's upset.

    2. Jen sounds like she's trying t ofigure out whather feelings are for Yuki? And yeah Zelli doesn't seem to be a fan! Thanks for clarifying. I try to keep characters straight but don't always succeed :):)

  3. In reality, what is correct is what people have stopped doing.
When a couple tends to spend more time on apps and typing on their cell phones than dating, you can be sure that soon they will no longer be a couple.
    Another good chapter.

  6. I don't really know Jen's back story but that's so sad that she had to give up her child, although I do understand why she did. Poor Jen.
PS THank you so much for your kind comments as always on my blog, Ellie:) And thanks as always for the heads up on the C and K dramas you've been watching. My lists gets longer and longer coz I haven't seen any shows lately...just mainly movies....waaaaaaaah!!!! And yay on the summer reading program starting in your library! I've always my kids to participate when they were younger, but alas, none of them likes reading as much as do. Sigh....hopefully in the future, that will change.

  7. Wow, Zelli really is the jealous type! I like Jen's response because 1) it rhymes and 2) I share her live and let live philosophy:

"I'm sure it'll all go all right," Jen didn't like drama. It could take a toll on your health which could lead to your wealth. "I'll try not to be in the way."

Also, learning that Jen has a daughter was surprise. I agree with Yuki that Jen should try to see her. This time, drama be damned! 😏
