Oh, How I wish it was me
It was true. Duncan didn't see this coming.
For once, he thought he was on the right track with his life. He'd met Jane at the support group. Wasn't like they'd met on a drunken night. Of course, a lot times, he was. He just couldn't help it. Perhaps he was born with a bad gene. But it was kind of a toss up. Go to AA or try to get a hold of this other problem of his. Herpies.
No one liked to talk about it. Well, some did. He knew this one guy who married a girl because he gave her herpies. It was a little depressing, yet kind of romantic. Duncan thought on it now. Except, it wasn't working for him. It wasn't.
Asa came to the house without her. He packed her things. Took down the crib and all of Mattie's things. It was so unnerving.
"You need to go." Asa informed him.
"Go where?" He said innocent enough. He had a beer in his hand when he said it, but he wasn't drunk. Even if he'd down a six pack or so. He was off duty. Wasn't like he worked for the city. Hell, he was a UPS man, and that wasn't as easy as some would think. Besides, he was doing this for Jane and the baby. They were going to make a life together, and then this dude shows up.
"Anywhere, but here." Asa was most adamant about Jane. He might have been with some relocation unit, moving Jane to a new location. Lot of horror was floating around in Duncan's head. This couldn't be for real.
"Where is she?" Duncan was ready to get ugly. Except, he didn't want to go to jail.
'It doesn't matter. She doesn't want to see you." Asa eyeballed him as if he was ready to defend her.
"But..." Duncan couldn't help to be a bit weepy. "I..I have no place to go."
"God." Asa rolled his eyes and shook his head. "There is no Jane, for you. She doesn't want to be with you."
Asa cold words hit Duncan hard. This was the first time Duncan ever took a relationship so seriously. What was he going to do?
"But I want to be with her?" Duncan festered a very sad stare.
"Look, be out by the end of the month." Asa would give him that. "Its over between you and Jane."
"How? How? Do you know that?" Duncan squinted hard as if this was more than he could possibly think on. He was certain it was working with him and Jane. OK, he might have called her Audrey a couple of times. But then again, he'd finally found Audrey and she wasn't as hot as he remembered. It was Jane who was the woman of his dreams, all along. Didn't that count for something?
"She was crying. She didn't want to come back. I-I think the drinking scares her." Asa said point blank as if he might be giving Duncan a solution if he really listened.
"It does?" Duncan looked at the can of beer in his hand. Huh, he thought. He had no idea what Asa was talking about.

Duncan really needs to talk to Jane; he shouldn't take Asa's word for everything. :/
ReplyDeleteWow Duncan, talk, not demand.
ReplyDeleteOh, I have a feeling Duncan hasn't a clue was a real relationship is.
ReplyDeleteWow is Skins still on? I lost track of it. I did however watch the premier of "The Carrie Diaries" not bad!
