Vada couldn't believe she was part of this. The wedding. It was so unexpected. And Ren looked beautiful. And so did Brad.
For the life of her, Vada had a hard time getting used to Dean's wife and her name. It was still a shock. Deep down, she was certain she would hate Brad, but she didn't.
Actually, she was happy for them.
"Well, if you're so happy for them, go over there and say so." Alo gave her a nudge at the wedding reception which took place as a potluck in the dining room. The whole ceremony didn't take much more than 10 minutes.
So she finally got the courage to introduce herself. Of course, she dragged Alo along.
"Dean's..like ..a big brother to me." She forced a smile as she looked at him then.
"Well, he's always said nice things about you." Brad assured her. She patted her stomach. It was a small baby bum. She said the baby would be here by late July. There was talk about him going overseas for a little while. "But we might get stationed here." She then beamed.
Vada didn't mean to be sad, but she wasn't sure she was ready to see Dean so often, yet she hated the fact he was going overseas, too.
"Where are you going?" She asked him.
"Germany." He was closed lipped about it. Still, he wasn't quite who she remembered. And a part of her wished he could still be who she longed for. Yet, she didn't really long for that anymore, either.
She spoke of Alo who lived here now. "He's going to college. He might even be a police officer, some day." Perhaps, it sounded like bragging. She hadn't meant too. She just wanted to talk about the future. And then she mentioned about working at the library. A slight smile edged Dean's lips. She guessed he was happy to see her, after all.
Macy found her niche soon enough with the wedding party. She stood with Charlie during the whole ceremony. After all, Charlie was with Carson and she was with Gage.
Macy liked Charlie, who was easy to work with. Perhaps they were even friends. Macy couldn't remember the last girlfriend she laughed with. There was Chandler, but he was occupied with Oz, lately and perhaps she was too occupied with Gage, but this was nice, hanging out with Charlie.
"I don't know most of these people." Macy confessed while she was sipping punch, She was sharing a few appetizers with Charlie.
"I don't think any of these people would really want to know me, anyway." She smiled but Macy could see Charlie just might be her own worst enemy.
"Why would you say that?" Macy slightly winced, but she kept smiling as Gage's wave at her from across the room.
"Oh..I dunno. It seems freaky to even be at a wedding." She was even lipped.
"But..but you were..are married." Macy reminded her.
"Not really. I mean, yeah, I was with Draco long enough to be his common law wife, but we never married." Charlie told her.
"But then..look at it this way..you and Carson." Macy smiled as if it could happen sooner than later.
"Yeah. But I'm not rushing into anything." Charlie told her.
Macy nodded as she looked at Gage. Sometimes, she did want to rush into things.
I think Macy shouldn't rush into anything if she is not sure... but she also needs to take a chance.... it will interesting to see what she does...
ReplyDeleteI don't like that Vada is thinking about Dean...
Macy definitely needs to slow down a bit. :/
