"We're going out?" Ben looked at Mae a little funny. He was already in his socks and sweats. "When?"
"You have 15 minutes to change." She informed him.
"Where are we going?" She pushed him back to Caden's room. Most of his stuff was there.
"Sushi." She told him. She was all dressed in black, like this might be a real date.
"Um, but I..I like my fish cooked. " He winced.
"I'm sure you can find something on the menu." She looked at him to hurry.
"Why didn't you tell me, about this?" Little alone, how were they going to afford this, with Christmas on the way?
"It wasn't my idea, exactly." She sighed. "Somebody, made a reservation, and said we should go out."
"I bet it was my Mom." Ben was straight lipped as he tried to find the best pants he had. He looked back at her, all fancy. They would not look like a couple. "I don't even own a suit."
"Just wear a sweater." She reached in the closet and found a comfortable white T-Shirt and a cardigan which he had never ever worn.
"No, it was not your mother." She informed him as she practically took his hoodie off and put on the shirt.
"Jeremy?" He looked at her as if that would be a first.
"No, just a friend." She told him.
"What friend?" He wanted to know.
"He'll be here any minute. He's gonna babysit." She was all casual about it, as if it were no big deal.
Then came a knock on the door.
"I'll get it!" yelled Caden from the livingroom.
"NO YOU WON'T!" They said in unison. Besides, the chain was on the door and he couldn't reach it.
Ben hurried to the door.
"So..you're the friend-" He eyed the long haired individual.
"I don't think we've met." He shook his hand. He introduced himself.
Ben looked back at Mae. He didn't think Xander was her type at all. He wasn't even Asian.
Ben shouldn't be so skeptical.
