Its the most Wonderful Time of the Year

Needless to say, the library had its own Weinstein matter to deal with. It had actually been a long time coming. And Mae finally decided with some help from Audrey and Kayla to go to city and report Jude for all his bad behavior.

Granted, as of late, he'd been very low key going through the process of his boyfriend becoming his girlfriend. Still, it was time. After all, he was the Young Adult Librarian.

In a matter of hours. It was over. He was fired.

And then..Henry got the best Christmas present ever. Well, actually two.

1. That morning before he went to work, he found out Josie was pregnant. That alone was enough to make him run around like a crazy many with sweet rolls for everyone.

2. He was approved as the new Young Adult Librarian, immediately! Which gave him the raise he'd been wanting. Although, he was certain he did more work as the assistant to head of circulation than he'd ever do as a Young Adult Librarian. And yet, he had his hands full with the last minuted Winter Reading program, which included a book talk, some craft-time and a local author coming for a book party.

But it was all splendid to Henry..who was right where he wanted to be.

If that weren't enough...to Effy's astonishment she was appointed as the assistant to the head of circulation.  Of course, she took the job without question. It was full-time, which meant adult benefits like insurance and paid vacation and paid sick leave.

However, this did not set well with Halie. And it was Gage who got the brunt of her rage.

"Well, people like me!" She wasn't sure if she was reminding him or herself.  He did his best to smooth out her ruffled up ego. But as usual, he couldn't do anything right, even if he were working two jobs, as of late. Still at the grocery store, but working weekends for the post office, delivering packages.

Here he was hoping they could celebrate with his cousin Henry and wife who was Halie's best friend, but instead, she was in a huff.

Finally, he left her alone and went to help his little son Alec and his mom work on a gingerbread house.

His mom reminded him she'd had a hard year with her mother being ill and now in a vegetative state.

"Just don't give up on her." His mother promised it would get better. But all the while, Gage was giving up the idea they'd be a real family one day. Maybe marriage just wasn't in the cards. He wanted to have time to go to college, but he knew he depended far too much on his mother, and he hated the idea they might always live with her and her boyfriend and his son.

Gage hoped next year would be better. When his phone rang from the post office, he was sure it was to tell him they didn't need him for another weekend, but instead they offered him a full-time job. Could he start tomorrow?
