"What's going on?" Ollie squinted hard, thinking the worst with his Dad and Betty. Of course, he didn't go on a tangent until he got his Dad alone, while Betty went to warm up supper for him. "Just how long have you and..."
"Really?" His dad's wince caught him off guard. "You, think the worst of me." He didn't really yell, but Ollie guessed he did.
Ollie nursed his bottom lip while his Dad put his denim shirt on.
"Look, do you still want a car or not?" His dad asked.
Ollie almost chocked. He didn't see how that was affordable. His dad was rather a vagabond of sorts. Ollie watched his Dad, who looked quite sad about the notion of him driving, yet he was glad Ollie found a job and was keeping his grades up.
"Betty saw one in the paper, she thinks we should check out." He told Ollie.
Ollie tilted his head, knowing where this was going. "You mean, the two of you?" Now they were back to that disgusting moment in his head. Something was going on with his Dad and Betty. Ollie was certain of it.
His dad rolled his eyes. "I can put down half, on this used Honda. You, can make payments to Betty."
Naturally, there would be a catch. Nothing was ever free.
"All right." Ollie would stop thinking about his dad and Betty together. He supposed there were worst things. "But I think she's in love with you...or something."
Ollie swelled a frown. His dad only shrugged.
"I don't think so. I'm not her type." He assured Ollie that she only fell for police officers.
Ollie chuckled. He knew for a fact, his dad was a far cry from a police officer.
