It felt like a blind date, and it was a little unsettling to get in a car with a girl you didn't really know. But still, the excitement shook to the core of Simon. Someone asked him out. It was unbelievable.
He supposed this would have to be his best acting gig yet. He was supposed to know Wren, and yet he didn't. Had he had a memory lapse? She said they knew each other from theater. It rattled his brain to try to figure this out.
Maybe if he'd called Valentina, she would know. But it was a little too late, and he didn't want to mess up Valentina's prom weekend.
So here they were in Wren's little economy car. Yes, she might look like next year's trend on the runway, but she was still a practical girl.
"Oh, you can make any outfit look good," Wren talked about how great he looked in a short play she remembered him in, last year. She'd worked in the room upstairs. She was part of the technical part of the theater. Wren was in lighting. "After I saw you in The Pickup, I knew I'd always be your fan." She smiled as she kept her eyes on the road.
"Well, I have a very small fan club." He almost had an open grin, thinking his brother Xander was his only fan until now.
Maybe, this was the start of something. Simon knew he couldn't take it for granted. Actually, he didn't know how he was supposed to act. Finally, he decided to be himself.
After all, Valentina looked so happy with Ollie. Ivy and Will weren't bickering at Prom. Simon took Wren's hand. Finally, he felt he was part of the group. Not an outsider looking in.
