one little catastrophe after another
"Damn it!" Holly couldn't get any reception on her phone. If that wasn't enough, Effy's pretty boyfriend was practically lifeless. He was no help with his doctor ways in a scenario like this.
Before she knew it, she was letting into Jamie. "Effy has more people skills than you do in one little finger!"
Holly was on a tangent. She wanted to flee the dark basement, but she didn't know where she would go. After all, she knew the wind was up outside. It was all so strange and stiffling. What if she couldn't breathe? What if the baby couldn't breathe in her womb?
Dustin held on to her before she got into a fight with anyone.
"Its gonna be OK," he kept saying to her softly if only she could believe him. She couldn't help to be fierce.
He told her maybe her phone was low on battery since it couldn't find a connection. He turned it off.
"What if somebody calls me?" She looked at him that he had no right to do this.
"Its late," He first said then checked his watch. It was early morning, instead. It wasn't long till the all clear bulletin came and they slowly went back to their apartments in the dark.
"Well, this sucks." Holly felt so lost without the power. She didn't know if she could get through this.
"You need to rest," Dustin got them inside and went to get her water from the fridge.
She looked from their bedroom window. It was black outside. They weren't the only ones in the dark.
"Try to relax." He rubbed her shoulders. She hated to admit it felt good, but she wanted to stand rigid and be ready for the next go round of this event. Of course, that meant the power outage. "It's gonna be fine."
"But what if, what if we have to go days like this?" She was worried.
"Then we'll figure it out." His voice was tired. Still, nothing rushed him, but her, she was beginning to think.
Yes, she'd better let him sleep. Yet, she felt so wired and completely useless to this dark situation.
