How had it come to this?

Honestly, wasn't he sleeping with the enemy? Will clenched his teeth preparing for a long night with Ollie. Ste was already sacked out in the other bed, and still in his damp swimming trunks.

Will made a face of disgust. It was an awful way to start the summer.

Naturally, Ollie was a wealth of information about Adventureland. They'd get up early at six in the morning and make their way to the entrance. It was best to get to the rides they wanted to ride, early. It would be cooler then and the lines wouldn't be so long.

"What if everyone else has the same idea that you do?" Suddenly, Will felt like an old man and wished he'd taken Ivy on his own. At least, they could have spent the night together and he wouldn't have to be someone's captive audience.

Still, he didn't want to make a fuss. Couldn't Ollie just shut up and go to sleep?

"You know, I love Valentina, don't you?" Ollie reminded him that he wasn't interested in Ivy. "Its.. it's always been Valentina." He told Will it took him a while to realize this. "I didn't want to be in love with her, because I always felt no good could come of it. But she believes in me..and she is the best thing that ever happened to me."

All his talk gave Will a headache as Ollie talked of his epic love with Valentina. Will envied Ollie that he could love like that. It was one of those things he'd never felt, exactly.

Will knew his parents couldn't stand each other, and he must have been the accident that kept them together when he was small, but that hadn't lasted four years. His grandpa was no saint in the love department, either. It was true Will wanted to be better when it came to raising a family than either one of them.

Still, it was hard to feel things he wasn't completely certain of. Maybe he was selfish that way, but Will couldn't help but think Ollie was a fool, a lucky fool in love.

It felt as if it was the weight of the world, trying to do the right thing with Ivy. Still, he felt he might have to break all the rules if he really wanted to be with her.
