in need of a vacation

"Why didn't you ask for time off?" Sheena assured Omaha he should have put in his vacation time at least three months ago. Now they were shorthanded at work and he was triple-tasking these days with a bowl of cold LIFE cereal for supper.

Actually, he was too tired to argue, but he couldn't help but yelp, "You never would make up your mind, when we could go or even where we could go." He reminded her that she'd mentioned Colorado.

"Do you still want to go?" He wanted to know.

"Maybe in September." She winced, but there were wildfires to worry about along with the matter of bad weather, too.

"At this rate, we'd be safer going to Mars." He pursed his lip as if it would be an adventure where ever they went. He wanted to go camping, while Sheena preferred the indoors, like the mall of America.

"Let's just stay home." There was always something to do with the house.

"No, we're young, we should have fun." She began to pout while she went to the fridge for some cold spaghetti.

"What we really need to do, is cook this weekend so we'll have leftovers to eat during the week." He told her, wondering if they would ever have a paperless kitchen.

Sheena sighed. She turned to look at him as if he'd forgotten to do something. It was a silent command, but he knew he better take out the trash before she really got mad.
