I know what you do to me
It was true, Simon was with Wren now. He wasn't solo anymore. She was there for everything. Possibly, he'd never had a friend quite like her.
She wanted to dress him. Make sure he was getting his vitamins. She definitely sought to his nourishment in many things. She knew his likes. She knew his every mood, and she hadn't run away yet.
Funny, that's how he thought of his mother now. He didn't hear from her anymore. Of course, when she had called, he wouldn't talk to her. Now he'd found Wren and it was some getting used to, with his biggest fan.
"You sure, about this?" Xander asked. He hadn't asked if she were his lover or if she might be stifling him. "I mean, this-this is all new territory for you," Xander mentioned his other past girlfriends.
"But-but I was always trying to please them," Simon told him. "I don't have to do that with Wren." He was certain they were on the same page, love life included. He needed to be with Wren.
"What if? What if she's not that person you think she is." Xander seemed to have doubts about Wren.
"I-I don't want to hear you say such things." Simon did his best not to be upset, besides he needed to move on with his life. He couldn't stay in one place forever. He might as well be an old dusty book on a shelf that never got read.
"Just-just don't rush it." Xander winced.
"I can't help it." Simon didn't want to admit that he didn't want to be alone. "We want to move in, together."
Naturally, Xander told him they could do that here if they had too.
Simon shook his head, no. No way, did he want to bring Wren here. He was grown up now. Starting college in a week or two. This was something he had to do.
"And how can you make ends meet?" Xander didn't see him getting a job as a full-time student. "You need this semester to get you ready for the future."
"I'll be fine." His father still gave him an allowance. It just wouldn't be used for fun stuff anymore. It would go toward rent, instead. Besides, he'd saved up. It would be OK.
"Fine." Xander stepped back and went to do what needed to be done in the kitchen. "But-but if you need me, you know where to find me." He went to pickle some radishes then.
Simon watched. His brother never let anything go to waste.
