When Xander got the call about Matty, he was there within the hour. Sure, he could help. It felt to him as if Dakota's room was waiting for Matty's arrival.
She hadn't been there all summer and he'd made the room more neutral. He even purchased a new laptop, new bedding, and more shelves. Of course, Ducky told him he just liked remodeling stuff. Xander knew Ducky thought it was a waste of time, but he was glad he was ready.
When he got home with Matty, Ducky was a bit out of sorts.
"Aren't you suppose to talk to me about something like this?" Ducky wasn't all that happy to see Matty, a foster kid who had been in and out of foster care over the years.
His mother overdosed again. It didn't look like she would ever be able to take care of him.
"Its a new school year." Xander pressed his lips tight.
Matty was in a new town too. One might think he was in the Witness Protection Program. As it was, Xander went to help Matty. It was as if it were Christmas, with a new backpack, an Android phone, and gear. Matty was certainly going back to school in style
Ducky sighed as if it was all too much while Matty remained mute.
"Have you even told Sunny?" Ducky looked at him as if he should have talked this over, at least with Sunny. After all, he was their adopted son.
Xander remained straight lipped. No, he'd forgotten to consult Sunny on the Matty situation. But Xander wanted Matty to have a new start. Still, it would be up to Matty. Xander could only hope Sunny would be more accepting than Ducky.
