When we woke up on the floor
Jordon felt terribly in limbo the last week or so. She might as well have been dazed and confused on a drug named Wade. She wanted to hate him on so many levels, yet she couldn't, not just yet.
Yes, she was certain he was the worst thing that could possibly happen to her when she did have other plans. Of course, her dad made it impossible to cross the threshold of the gender of Jordon's choosing.
1. he was not going to pay for it.
2. Jordon needed a real career that could handle such transitions.
3. Jordon missed registration for fall classes at the University.
Yes, there were some people out there who actually worked their entire school life to know where they were going. Jordon knew what was needed, but there was no way to get it.
Jordon supposed using music over the summer as an excursion didn't mean much in the end. Yes, there had been hope, that playing at the farmer's markets and even on the street might help her Go To fund for the life procedure. It didn't even amount to five hundred bucks. Jordon didn't even have a car.
And then there was Wade, the last human on earth to screw everything up for her.
Jordon applied at the Mega Grocery store. She got on in the bakery making pastries. The uniform wasn't all that flattering, and she did a lot of vacuuming in the dining area. Maybe this too would pass. She didn't need friends. She needed to save money. She needed to remember who she wanted to be. Someday, that exit would come true, if she believed in it, enough.
