Somebody loves you
Another wedding, Gabby wasn't so sure she could take all this summer love, but then again, she did have a dance partner and he was dancing with her to Carly Rae Jepsen's "Run Away with Me." Gabby couldn't help but let herself smile a little more. She felt as if they were the life of the party.
It was great to be part of the Labor Day weekend fun, even if it was down at the park by the river. After all, Ste had a way of following her lead. She at least had him enrolled for a class or two at the University. She found out he had studied ancient history. He already had several credits in Archeology.
"Why did you quit?" She wanted to know when they went off in the twilight for a walk close to the Missouri river.
"I dunno," he first said. "I want to say it was my brother's fault, but maybe it was all too much, helping out with the bakery and classes." She found out if he would have stayed in his major he might have gone off to the tombs in Egypt by now.
"But that wasn't why I was doing it," Ste said he was just a detectorist, it all started with metal detecting. "I know my brother thought I was crackers. He said it would get me nowhere. After a while, I believed him. "I'm not the best student, you know."
Gabby hugged on to his arm as if she would take every step with him. She did want him to succeed. She was certain there was more to him than someone who had secrets to making the best sourdough bread in the area.
Still, she needed to accept the fact, he was great at baking. Yet, wasn't a mind a terrible thing to waste.
She would have to be patient and remember to let him lean on her, especially this semester at the University.
