a brother like Cole
Jared dreaded his job at the sandwich shop, but at least he could put a sub sandwich together now. Although, it was highly unlikely he would get promoted any time soon. His life was a mess, about a lot things. Like getting to work on time. He still slept a lot and didn't even think of doing chores around the house.
Yet, he'd studied his brother quite a bit. He didn't think he was no better. And then there was Lee Ann to worry about.
"Not, her again?" Jared festered a frown as soon as Cole mentioned her. As it was, Cole never had a girlfriend, but there was always trouble maker Lee Ann. Cole knew her back in high school. Jared guessed it was his first love, but she'd pretty much dismissed a romance from the get go. She was moody and she never met a guy she completely liked.
"Its not what you would think." Cole was still a fool for her. She'd called him to come get her in the middle of night in Oklahoma City. And Cole went in spite of floods. But when he came back, she was not with him. Jared was thankful for this. "She's at her sister's."
Evidently, Lee Ann had some family problems. She was married with a baby now.
Jared hoped that was over. Sure, he wanted his brother to have someone in his life, but not like this.
Jared shook his head. "Don't get involved with her." He knew how expensive she was. She was always in need of something. He doubted she even like Cole.
Cole only shrugged, as if this little bit of excitement was over. He went about it like a plumbing job or repairing someone's furnace. Still, Jared was afraid it was an awful start to summer. He didn't have time for this.
He wanted to read. He wanted to sleep. Didn't his brother know how depressing life was?
As long as Jared could put it out of his mind about Sally and her baby, he would somehow forge on.
