Betty still asked about Valentina from time to time. Didn't Ollie see her anymore?
Of course, she invited Maddie over quite a bit and then she'd mention Valentina and talk about how wonderful she was. It always hit a nerve with Ollie.
"Does it bother you?" He wanted to know after cake and ice cream and Betty was out in the back yard on her Android with her daughter.
Maddi smiled, but he could tell that it did.
Ollie wanted to roll his eyes and make some silly comment, but he knew it wouldn't do any good.
"I don't know why she's like this." Ollie tried to hug himself but Maddie slipped in under his arm. I used to think she was cool, but now she's downright annoying."
"These things take time," Maddie reminded him that her grandmother's family never liked her grandpa. "And they were just fine." Although, she didn't really know that much about her grandfather's family since they wouldn't acknowledge her grandparents. "I'm new, so I'll just have to face the consequences."
Ollie shook his head. He didn't like the sound of that.
Just his luck, Betty would be inviting Valentina over with her new boyfriend. Ollie knew he couldn't bare that.
"I'll just spend more time with you at your place," he said with a smile.
Maddie shook her head, no. They would get through this somehow. After all, she told him they needed to be on their best behavior.
"I'm older than you by four years. I don't want your family thinking I'm a bad influence," Maddie said.
"Oh, so now you're a bad influence," Ollie joked. If Betty only knew how she had him looking into more options in classes at the metro college, Betty might think Maddie was the best.
