a troublesome thought

Mini promised Josh she wouldn't worry about Jay, but she just couldn't help it.

Sure he'd been reluctantly quiet, as of late. As if, he might not really be there at all. But something in his eyes told her he was calculating something.

"Oh, you have such an odd way about you," Sheila told her when she brought up Jay. "Where does this come from? Was your mother like this? Were you paranoid as a child?"

Mini knew she shouldn't have brought it up. Maybe Omaha's wife was right. Maybe she was just making this up in her head, but her gut thought differently.

She was certain Jay could be bad if pushed.

Of course, she didn't want to be the one to do it. Josh was right, leave it alone. Don't get involved.

Still, she thought Jay could be better than this, but how could one persuade him he was on the wrong road. Was it revenge?

Still, Mini knew she had her own life to cope. It wasn't like she wanted to save Jay just to lose her own. Yet, she felt she needed to have a watchful eye. And the only one she could really turn to was Brian. Yes, he needed to know her thoughts on the subject of Jay. So she met him at the Downtown Coffee Shop.

Of course, Brian thanked her for helping out Jay. After all, Jay was like a brother to him.

"Does he seem really OK, with you," she asked.

"I guess," He shrugged. Brian was busy with his two jobs.

"But what about, Ivy?" Mini wanted to know if Ivy had any thoughts about their ex-brother-in-law.

"Not really," Brian told her that Ivy hadn't said a word about him lately. "I know she was worried about him at Christmas, but you know, we went to see my sister and I guess we all forgot about him."

Brian knew his sister didn't want to talk about him. All they knew that Jay was still driving for Uber and delivering takeout.  Mini knew she needed to let it go, but she couldn't. She knew trouble was coming.
