Not your ordinary calendar kitten
Rosie knew she hadn't made things easy for Chance these days. Of course, he was always there for her, but she'd broke up with Sunny weeks ago and hadn't told him yet.
She still wasn't sure this was a good time, but she liked pizza and decided it would be good to hang out with Chance and his brother.
Spring was in the air, or maybe it had a catch. Winter would be back in an arctic blast by Tuesday.
"You've changed your hair," Chance stared at her as if she wasn't the same person. It was as if he knew already, but he didn't let it show. He kept cramming pizza in his mouth.
She watched him carefully. For the first time, she saw his youth. How young he really was and it made her smile. She thought of him as a little boy and she wondered if she would want one of her own with him.
Rosie shook the thought. Of course, she wasn't ready for something like that with Chance. Still, it was a certain study she knew she could endure. At least, she stopped thinking about what went wrong with Sunny.
It was true, they'd grown apart. They were on different journeys now. She was still in high school.
Chance was barely out of high school. But available.
"I was thinking of visiting the University soon," Rosie said to Chance. "I was wondering if..if you'd want to come with me."
He looked at her blankly as if he wondered if they were true friends. He finally nodded.
She smiled back as if maybe he was capable of being the boyfriend she'd always wanted.
