never quite the end
Brian was thankful to find Bom when he did. God knows, how life might be if it was just Keanu and himself during this pandemic.
As it was, he was still on good terms with Ivy's mother, because of Bom. Life was working out. He was still working every day while most weren't. There was the bonus of the stimulus check. Life was good. He might just survive this yet.
And then he would watch the news and find out the reality of the state of things. It wasn't so good. He knew he would have to try harder, live on less and enjoy every moment of nesting.
"Are you sure? You're all right?" He wanted to know. He felt Bom was quieter these days. Maybe she was worried, or was it troubled? "You can tell me anything, you know?"
She went about cooking supper as if she hadn't even heard his question. Finally, she did remind him that her ex cut her off and she didn't know where he was.
"Do you think, something happened to him?" Brian hadn't thought about him since they'd gotten together.
Bom shrugged as if it was best not to say anything more. She served the stirfry and rice and they ate with the baby who tried the veg as well as the chicken. Still Bom was silent. She went to take the dishes away, but he beat her to it. He started to wash dishes.
"I want to nurse my mom," Keanu's words were so clairvoyant. He'd never heard his little son put such a sentence together.
Brian cleared his throat. Did he hear him correctly? Brian winced.
Bom looked as if she'd heard nothing he'd said as she got him out of his chair.
Brian was almost afraid to ask what that was about.
