"I feel like she's my oldest friend," Valentina said to Matty as they were out shopping for a housewarming present for Lizzy. "And she's all grown up and has a real job, too." Valentina was happy to announce Lizzy's job as a receptionist at the police station. "And now she has her own apartment, and possibly a new boyfriend."

"Possibly?" Matty squinted as if he didn't like the sound of that. He followed her around the isle of plants and they came to a small succulent that Valentina thought would be perfect for Lizzy.

"Oh, I don't know," she shrugged. "It might be all different now. They seemed to hit it off while she was in Chicago." She said they met online, but they kept in touch daily. "She probably knows so much more about him than she ever did about Liam."

"Liam?" Matty said he worked with a Liam.

Valentina nodded. She knew a Liam who worked at the grocery store, too. Lizzy's ex.

Matty sighed. "I wonder if he knows she's moved back?" He said Liam hadn't mentioned it to him. But he did talk about Lizzy occasionally, but that he was friends now with this guy named Keir.

"Keir?" Valentina looked back at him. "Well, she said this guy she likes, his name is Keir."

They both shook their heads. Couldn't be the same guy, could it?

"It's none of our business anyway," Val decided. She doubted they'd ever do anything with Lizzy and Keir, or with Lizzy and Liam, either.

"Right," Matty agreed.

They went on to see what other items they could pick up for Lizzy. Val said she'd written to Lizzy while she was away. "It was good to get her letters and postcards. It's really like a lost art. But I'm glad she's back and hopefully, this Keir is everything she wants in a boyfriend."
