NOTE TO SELF - Create your own space

Jory thought he might have been felt up more than once, but then he'd never been so close to such firmness before either. Damn, if Rachel wasn't going to learn the tango or else.

First, they watched quite a bit of YouTube and Jory was hoping that was all it was going to be. She got him a beer after a while as if it was meant to warm up to something else.

She found some music and she did whatever she could to be stuck right to him. Jory gradually calmed down to her maneuvers. Of course, all the while she asked where he was from and why was he here and what did he do.

Evidently, he passed the questionnaire. He was still here. Of course, it was getting dark and his stomach growled.

She laughed. "I can order pizza," she said.

"Oh, you shouldn't. I can't let you do that." Jory said. "I should go." But when he took one step toward his place, he knew Ivy was there. He heard the baby. "Maybe I should get the pizza." Jory offered.

"If you want." She was ready to order in a click.

"Whatever you want," Jory nodded. "I'll pay for it."

Rachel only smiled with approval. Jory smiled back with a toothy grin. He guessed all was well.

"What do you think about kids?" She suddenly asked after the order was in.

"Kids?" Did she have some he didn't know about? His look was surprised, but so was hers. More like startling. "Do you have children?"

"No, but I want one."

Jory kept trying to be serious as he hugged himself.

Her laugh was soft as she came forward and he got a good look at her dazzling big eyes and pretty smile.

"Really?" He winced. "Are you sure?"

"Well..I'd like to try and you know, with everything going back to normal..now's the time to do it."

"How old are you?" This concerned him. No one had ever been this bold with him. Never.

"Oh, I'll be twenty-seven this May." she nodded. Jory nodded back. "How old are you?"

"Twenty-five in October," Jory told her.

"That's a nice age," she smiled as if she might be ready for her beauty pageant moment. It only made Jory fill up with laughter.

"It's just, I don't want to wait until I'm too old, you know. And, you're not bad on the eyes. I mean, from what I understand..if it's a girl..it would look more like you, but if it's a boy it would be more like me." She nodded as if she'd studied these things.

"You think so?"

She held on to his arm. He'd never had such a proposal before, but then again neither were getting any younger.

  8. Well, this took a turn! Rachel certainly knows what she wants. I like how "she smiled as if she might be ready for her beauty pageant moment" after dropping her baby bomb. Fresh, descriptive writing as always. :)
