Oh, the surprises you'll find

"This is it?" Rosie was all smiles as she stood at the threshold of the tiny house. It was their very first visit to the new place.

Chance couldn't believe it. It was so small. He winced. "How did you exactly win it, again?"

"I told you, I just did it all online," she looked back at him.

The rent was only a little over five hundred a month. And the home was hers. She'd won it.

"I just don't know?" Chance shook his head, thinking it was a scam or maybe just the idea that he would really live here with her.

They went in. It was as if her graduation was just a blur to her. This was all she'd talked about for weeks. He kept thinking it was a mistake of some kind. But here they were.

There was a flat-screen in the livingroom and the place was already furnished. Rosie told him the TV was a Roku TV and she already had her account ready.

"Come on, let's look at the bedroom," she smiled.

Chance clenched a smile. He didn't even know if he could climb up into the tiny space where the bed was. She was smaller than him. It was no problem. But they'd both be staying here.

He knew he couldn't leave her on her own. He'd be so worried. But was he ready to leave the basement at his brother's? That had been his home for the last couple of years. He'd hoped to have worked it out with his parents to go back to Hawaii with Rosie, yet that hadn't worked out. His parents were against it, as if he might never leave home if he came back. After all, he'd been a college student for two years now. And was still undeclared.

Naturally, Rosie was so enthusiastic. She loved the place. Chance looked around. He wanted to like it, but he wasn't sure if he was ready for this. She took his hand and had him on the bed before he knew it.

He laid on his back. Yes, it was comfortable. Truly the bed was nice. Her face smiled at him as she straddled him. "Come on, we have to go on the balcony."

"Balcony?" Chance squinted.

Rosie showed him the way through the big bedroom sliding window. She climbed up. He managed like an old man, perhaps, but was thankful they were both small. They stood there as if they were on the helm of a ship.

He smiled as he looked over the fleet of tidy small houses.

"Isn't it the best!" She beamed. Finally Chance smiled too. This was definitely an adventure to embark on.

  11. This reminds me of all those tiny house shows they used to have on HGTV (maybe they still do?), right down to the couple squabbles! The collage pics make this new home seem like it would be very cozy. I love that the chapter ends on an up note, with Chance deciding to take an, ahem, chance on adventure. A pleasure to read! :)
