I hear you call my name and it feels like home

 

There was a lot Victoria wanted to tell Mick but was certain he wouldn't find it all that entertaining. Like the moment when Steve first saw how devastated Jools was when he found out about Evan. 

She was so sure Steve was going to immediately fall in love with Jools and she'd be left in the cold. She hated that she felt that way now, but when nothing romantically ever happened to her..she was expecting the worst.

It was kind of a shock, she now thought. How one kiss changed everything. Some days, she did wonder if she'd wake up from this daydream. But as it was, Steve was making plans with Alfie and Poppy. He thought they should do something together. So they were coming over. Victoria had never played hostess to anything. She hoped she wasn't smiling like an idiot.

"So, are you really in love?" Mick wanted to know.

Victoria only cracked up in laughter and nodded. "I know, hard to believe." Her smile was open and yes she was certain this was love because she wasn't sure she really knew how to love someone until she met Steve. It wasn't a chore or some sort of duty. She wanted to do anything or even nothing with him.

"Yeah, especially since I've been your wingman, far too long," He was a bit smart-mouthed now. Had Jools prompted him to know these words?

"Well, Steve doesn't see me, the way you see me," She wanted him to stop being such a know it all, but he only sighed. She knew Mick was sad. She knew she should be sad, too. 

"Thank god," He smirked. 

"Maybe Jools will see you different, eventually too," she said as if not to give up. Of course, he looked at her a bit funny as if he didn't have any intentions.

"Stop making stuff up," Mick told her he and Jools were just friends.
