Oh, it was Friday the 13th. This couldn't be good. True, Casey knew he'd been a little off since his parents arrived. He was failing as a husband miserably. Especially, since he'd lead his parents to believe he was married already when he actually wasn't.
This past year or so was just crazy. He'd meant to put everything on hold. Although, that hadn't actually happened either. Somehow he'd managed to find Lynsey and now they had Erro. How was this all possible?
It didn't set well after the birth of his son. Honestly, he was so afraid Lynsey might leave him as in the D word. And he'd meant to make all things right. Yet he hadn't.
"I think I'm depressed," he finally admitted to Chance over the phone.
"But why?" Chance didn't know. There were so many things to be happy about, according to his younger brother.
"But..but I'm not used to all these changes." He knew he'd let Lynsey down. Generally, he didn't want her to do the cooking but since it was expected by his parents well, he let them boss her around. He hadn't told them about her near-death experience either when she had baby Erro. He couldn't talk about it. He didn't want her to talk about it.
It was best to have silence. And now his parents lived in the basement. Oh, they liked it. A walk-in entrance. Everything on the ground floor. He and Lynsey ended up bringing food to them. It was a miserable month. And he knew it was wrong because he hadn't seen his parents in the last few years. Here they were and he didn't know what to do.
"Are they really thinking of living here?" He asked Chance.
"It seems that way."
Casey only nodded and of course, his brother asked if he was still there on the phone.
"I just don't know if I can do it." Casey's words finally surfaced.
"What are you talking about?" Chance wanted to know.
"Just to go on."
"What? You aren't thinking-"
"I need my space," he was crying out in his backyard near the roses he cherished.
"Of course, you do." Chance snapped. "It's always about you, isn't it?" Chance laid a heavy load on him. What about Lynsey? What about the baby? He had a family now. That was his priority. Their parents were going to be fine. Torry their half-brother was looking for a place for them to live. Their parents weren't that old. They didn't need to be waited on. "Let mom do the cooking."
"But..but I never liked her cooking." Casey practically shivered. She was old school with food he didn't want to eat. He was used to Lynsey and her simple foods made on the stove.
"I don't remember you hating it," Chance said they always ate whatever their Chinese mom made. "It was good and you know it. Give Lynsey a break. You know she should be the queen right now. Always the queen of the house."
Casey nursed his bottom lip. He felt as if he was going to war or something. But he guessed if his brother had faith in him, he needed to get it together and order some people around. And let Lynsey rest.
He should tell them he is not yet married
ReplyDeletePobre Casey, tiene demasiadas cosas en la cabeza; no sé tal vez podría probar a decir la verdad ♥
ReplyDeletePoor Casey, he has too many things in his head; I don't know maybe I could try to tell the truth ♥..that might be a start.
DeleteChance wasn't helping. He has to join Torry, their half brother in finding adequate lodging solution for the parents who have landed in Casey's basement,.
ReplyDeleteChance is the youngest...and there is only so much he can do. I am glad he's there for Casey. Possibly, what he said about Lynsey will make Casey get on the ball (so to speak) and be the father he should be..and maybe husband too.

hello dear!
ReplyDeleteanother fanastic chapter. love this story! will you write a book? will they publish a book? :)
Greetings from Poland!
Lynsey has the baby so she needs a special treatment and she cannot help for her mood changing
ReplyDeleteA vida está cheia de mudanças, o Casey está com dificuldade de aceitar a nova vida... Como ele eu adoro ter um espaço só meu. Adaptação é preciso!
ReplyDeleteBeijos e bom fim de semana!
😘
I think Casey needs helps from the elderly people (his parent, people who has deep experience of life) or maybe he Consults to life-coach. Life goes on. Sure that he becomes a good father, good husband. Also he should be in the kitchen next to her and helps her. This is life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bad situation. It's good that Casey could talk to Chance; sometimes even that little bit helps so much. I hope he can come to terms with some of the bigger issues, such as sorting out his feelings about Linsey's near-death childbirth experience. Working through something like that will take time.
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to say that I absolutely love that colorful room in the collage. The pillow with eyes is so cute!
