"Oh, your dad probably only said that because he was upset with Casey," Lynsey assured Chance about the marriage matter his Dad had brought up. They didn't need to rush into marriage.
Chance and Casey's parents finally found a condo on the bottom floor. They'd waited long enough, but she guessed they could still be waiting. Although, they'd left rather unhappy with Casey.
She'd came all this way to the Tiny House Community just to bring fruit and veg for Rosie and Chance. Finally, she'd made it to the Farmer's market. She'd gone back to work at the library too. Of course, it was part-time. Casey only had to handle the baby for four hours while she was gone.
"But how is Casey?" Chance never asked at work. There was so much they didn't say to each other. It was good to catch up.
"He's no different," Lynsey's smile was open. She always got that question even from a sister who lived in Germany. Everyone wanted to know about Casey. "He's fine."
He was better with Erro too. He would now at least change messy diapers. Of course, Erro peed on him a time or two.
"What did you do?" Rosie asked.
"I made him take a shower with Erro." Her smile was sly. Honestly, she showered with the baby, why couldn't Casey. "He was getting jealous."
"Casey or Erro?" Chance looked at her as if this didn't make sense.
"Casey, of course," She winced and handed baby Erro off to Rosie because Lynsey knew who could handle him. Lynsey looked at Rosie all happy with the little one. "We might need to send Chance to baby boot camp before you two have one. It might take a while."
"Well, of course, we'd babysit," Rosie offered. "But, it might be better at your place than ours."
"I guess so," Lynsey hadn't thought that far ahead.
They went inside and Chance brought Lynsey a plastic bucket of goodies for Erro. Mainly, an assortment of baby wipes, baby lotions and the like.
"Rosie finds things all the time," Chance smiled. "I've been meaning to bring it, but I forget."
"Oh, please, don't even think of becoming your brother," Lynsey batted her eyes. She knew that would never happen and still she had to have faith in Casey because she knew no one else did.
A child is always a big challenge.

ReplyDeleteIt's great that Chance and Casey's parents finally found a place to live. That was getting to be an untenable situation. The idea of a baby boot camp for Chance is kind of funny -- although certainly not unwarranted! I definitely think I'd need one. And it's touching how Lynsey has faith in Casey because she knows that no one else does.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that your Labor Day gathering was such a scorcher! I agree that sometimes an umbrella's just not enough. Although summer's my favorite season, when faced with those soaring temps, I'm okay with autumn.
Thanks so very much for including my fruit barrette brooch in your collage! I love the way it looks next to the gingham dress, like someone's going on a picnic. Or maybe, like Lynsey, to the farmer's market. Your creative collages are always a delight! :)
Very interesting chapter.
