Oh, it was getting annoying, being around Jools and Mick. What sort of Christmas spell were they under? They practically went to the bathroom together, these days.
Dimi winced at the thought. Yes, she needed to get out of here so these love birds could do what love birds wanted to do.
Still, she didn't know what to do with Bishop. Would it all change back to normal by the new year?
She tried not to think about him, but he'd held hands with her, and that nervous kiss he gave her when they left Slater's party was a bit to get used to. Yes, she didn't want to like it. Not really and yet she thought about it, even now. How he stared into her eyes so intently. His forehead touching hers. His fingers at the base of her neck. It felt impossible, and yet it wasn't. She winced hard..was this really supposed to be happening?
Could she get used to this new level with the guy she worked with? She pressed her lips hard thinking it was only a dream. Of course, she felt as if she needed to stay in her room more. Naturally, her adventures with Bishop weren't anything near the lovey-dovey moments she accidentally walked into with Jools and Mick.
True, she was happy for them, but did they just make out, anywhere? She sighed wondering if she'd ever been that way with anyone.
She just didn't see this coming with Bishop. No way would they ever be that kind of in love. Of course, she got in a tizzy and texted Slater about the matter. "How could you do this to me?"
"What did I do?" Slater texted back.
After, Dimi's random text, Slater decided it was time to come clean about Bishop with Misty. As if she was still acting oblivious about the stranger that showed up.
"Oh, you knew who he was from the start," Slater shot her a look.
"You have to stop playing cupid, you get it wrong, every time." She looked away as if she didn't want to discuss their crazy dinner.
"That was your Bishop, you know."
"My Bishop?" She acted as if she'd never thought of the guy on the dating app after being with Slater.
"I mean, seeing Dimi with him, something I would have never thought in a million years..but I think she's the one for Bishop." He shook his head. Of course, Christmas was over but the tree was still lit. Misty kept staring at it as if he hadn't actually given her what she wanted. Evidently, lotions and bath bombs were not enough.
This left Slater wondering what he could do to make things right. And then the thought of a ring popped into his head. Of course, this would be the worst time to get it out of his pocket. He could see, Misty was still pondering over Bishop and his love for Dimi.
"Do you think we're being too selfish?" Mick asked as if they were going out more than they should to drop off goodies they'd made for friends.
"What are you talking about?" Jools squinted back. After all, they'd had fun at Steve and Victoria's playing a game with their new Janga set and they'd hung out with Simon at Chevy's, bringing groceries for the new year. "We aren't selfish at all?"
"Well, I think my sister Dimi is upset with me," Mick said she was being unusually quiet. "What's going on with her?"
"I made her a pie, didn't I? The one she brought to Slater and Misty's." Jools reminded him. Mick nodded. He said he did make great pies.
"Don't worry so much. I'm sure she'll figure it all out. She's a grownup, you know." He shrugged.
It was true they hadn't given each other gifts, but he felt the best gift of all was being together and doing things together, like cooking and now cleaning. Yes, Jools did feel they needed to do a major declutter, but of course, Mick changed his mind when he wrapped his arms around him and kissed him. Maybe they could hold off on that until after the new year and just enjoy the now.
Yes, the best gift is being together.

ReplyDelete"They practically went to the bathroom together, these days" Ah young love :)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the love in this installment! Mick and Jools, Dimi and Bishop, and Misty and Slater, oh my! Even if Dimi is hesitant about Bishop, and Slater is upset with Misty. I have a feeling that these crazy kids will find a way to work it all out!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comments! I didn't have COVID; sometimes, when I write late at night, I'm not the best communicator. Valentina's strep throat reminded me of a nasty case of strep I had a lifetime ago, so that's what I was trying to say. But I very much appreciate your concern!
That's crazy that it's 16 degrees where you are! And that there's such upheaval at work. As you say, hopefully your coworkers are moving on to better things. And I hope that good things are in store for you too! :)
