"I think we're at the next level," Tony shook with giddiness. He wanted his friend Trent to know. It was something he couldn't text. He had to call him as soon as he got home from Ting's. Finally, it was as if he and Trent were on the same playing field. Well, when it came to girls. Naturally, Trent sounded as if he was more experienced. Even if he were a year younger.
Tony didn't look of age. It had always been a problem. No one ever took him seriously. Sometimes, he wondered if it were others doing to make him who he was. It was hard to know how to be. If only he had Trent's finesse. Although, Trent wasn't talking much about his girlfriend Brooklyn lately. And Tony didn't dare ask.
"What did you do?" Trent wanted to know.
Tony blinked. Actually, he wasn't sure he did anything. Well, of course, he responded to Ting's advances. After all, she was the one who pushed him down on the bed. Of course, it was only a kiss but it was like being in a movie. It was electric! Tony smiled. Maybe he shouldn't have called Trent after all. Maybe he was just tired of listening to Trent's stories. He wouldn't dare talk that way about Ting. After all, she rocked his world just by talking to him. He never felt he was a leftover with her around. She was the sweetest. The kindest. And now she had kissed him.
"Oh, it's just..she really makes me happy," Tony said. Yet, it was so bittersweet. What if it was a one-time thing? Was it possible she was only getting back at that guy who lived at her house? If only he'd said more. But Tony was in shock. It was not the Ting he knew who always smiled at him across a crowded classroom.
He sighed. How come he could be so thrilled and yet he felt as if as high as he had been he could feel so low. It was easy to play along. Being silly. But now it was so passionate. What did it all mean?
Tony hung up on Trent. After all, Trent would want details. Then he would tell him, "Oh that's nothing."
Tony sighed and called Ting. Of course, he thought he should have texted instead. The phone rang and rang. He hated the idea of leaving her a voicemail. Then finally she said, "Hullo."
"Do..do you still like me?" He wanted to know.
"Gawd, I can't believe you'd ask," He could hear her smile. "Of course, I do. You're the best."
Tony shook with laughter. "No, you're the best." He told her.
How cute. Better to ask and know the answer than to create scenarios in your head and never know what's really going on.
