How did we get here

How come everyone thought it was such a great idea? Well, Harry and Koda actually.

"It's just for the weekend, and you want Maisy to be your friend, don't you?" Koda said it was the least she could do.

"But..but she gets to be a reenactor in a crow's mask, I have to play a kitchen winch who's  just selling her jewelry." Vanna was in a stomp. She wasn't even there when Koda told Harry and Maisy that she would do it.

"It's only for the weekends," Koda shouted as he went to the kitchen to make dinner.

She cringed at the thought.

"Remember, you can make at least three hundred a weekend," he told her.

She shook her head from side to side. She might as well be corn detasseling, she told him.

"Hey, I made pretty good money doing that as a kid," Koda looked back at her as he was digging in the fridge.

She hugged herself giving him a look that he better not start on those corn-detassling stories. She'd heard enough already.

"I know you don't like being a bit part," he said later when he served her up hot cheese enchiladas from the stove.

"Stop talking about it," she pointed her fork at him as if she might give him a stab but took to the cheesy goodness he'd made. She was quiet for a while as she dug into the cold carrot and raisin salad as well as the refried beans.

"I don't know why you two can't get along?" Koda sighed and Vanna practically rolled her eyes back at him.

"I don't think you're very good at making friends." He went on to say. She swelled a frown that he had no idea what he was talking about.

"I have friends," she bit back while he dug into the homemade salsa with a tortilla chip. She took one too and bit it as if he better stop saying things like that about her.

"Oh, they pop up when they need something," he shrugged.

He was so annoying, but she knew they'd make up. They always did by bedtime.

"Look, I'm going to try. I really am," she said as they were finishing up. She washed the dishes like a good girl. There weren't many. They'd eaten on paper plates. "I'm gonna do it. OK?"

"OK." Koda smiled back as if he was so proud of her. She gave him a nauseous look, but he kissed her anyway. It was a good thing he was good in bed, but he was great in the kitchen.

  2. I don't know if good in bed and the kitchen is enough to counter all the insults, personally for me......definately not. When you're doing something you don't like with people you don't like, the weekend can be a really really long time for a mere $300.00.

  4. 300 for a reenactment? Man, I would do that. :) And is this Super Vanna?? We haven't seen her in a time.

Oh my gosh enchiladas sound so good.

Clarke's book was really quite good. I highly recommend it if you want a thriller about six women who go to Greece but there are lots of secrets. It's not like lots of thrillers though. I don't know how to describe it...

I have NOT seen from. New to me, but it sounds like Wayward Pines (which I LOVED). Gonna start it tonigt!

I hope that KIA doesn't get stolen! Mexican sounds nice...

  8. 'How did we get here' is a daily asked questionwhere I live ,as we are in some sort of political/social crisis.
Anyway, I like it that Koda and Vanna make up their differences before entering bed. I'm impressed of the fact that Koda is good in bed... but even better in the kitchen (cheese enchilades, salsa, tortila etc...). Life is good.

  9. Loved the chapter. I found them a little tense, maybe they should think about other things.

  10. I always enjoy reading about Koda and Vanna! I wonder if Koda is right and Vanna will enjoy helping Maisy at the fair, or if Vanna's right and she'll be miserable. Either way, your last line, as always, is killer:

"It was a good thing he was good in bed, but he was great in the kitchen." 💖🌮💖🥗💖🥕
