"I always thought his parents were still together," Alfie said about Finn a few days later when it was just he and Zoey. "I still don't know how he won prickly Oakley over like he did." He shrugged about the matter while he was eating popcorn and sitting on the couch with Zoey who was tuned in to FRIENDS on the TV.
"Sometimes, it's just magic," Zoey shrugged back.
"Magic?" Alfie wrinkled his forehead with a smirk. She looked at him funny as if he better not go there.
"I don't know, maybe..maybe it took some unlikely person to get them together," She tilted her head as if he had to remember how Remi insisted that she go to Alfie for help at the drugstore that day they met.
Alfie only chuckled.
"So that's the way it is, is it?"
She pressed her lips straight and gave him an OBVIOUSLY expression. "Well, it was that other guy's idea that Oakley move in with Finn, anyway."
"Oh..oh..oh..oh," Alfie nodded as if he was thinking of Remi instead, which he had never said a word to all this time, not even to thank her for introducing him to Zoey. It was better to leave well enough alone. They never crossed paths at work.
"I wonder how that Dory is doing anyway?" Alfie winced then.
"Well, he's out of the hospital. Oakley's mom is keeping him tracked. He doesn't have any family so she's trying to look out for him while Finn and Oakley are gone."
"Did Finn even ask her?" Alfie wondered now just how above the call of duty could Janine get?
"No, she looked into it as soon as Finn told her what happened. She knew some people and he's in the pilot program, the new coffee shop is doing. You know, trying to help people get back on the right path."
"So that's what is going on there," Alfie almost laughed but knew he better be serious. "The food, is good, mostly...but not all the time."
"See, you and Gage are helping out the locals," she pressed pause on the TV then and went to get herself a bottle of water. She brought Alfie a bottle of water too.
"So who do you think will get married first?" She then asked about Poppy and Joon or Gage and Nora. He looked at her as if this had to be a trick question.
"Hard to say?" he nodded. He knew it wasn't a race for anyone. Oh, he was in no hurry to get married.
sometimes people does not want to get marry because this is very expensive issue...

ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see who will be first...
ReplyDeleteSo much going on but that's life.
ReplyDeleteI love conversations like this where they're just doing couple talk ha ha. And it provides insight into the other characters as well. Fun!
ReplyDeleteNa idade deles eu também não teria pressa de me casar.
ReplyDeleteBoa quinta! (✿◠‿◠)
I agree with Zoey: sometimes it's sheer magic that brings couples together! It's good to see Alfie so happy with her, even if he's in no rush to the alter. Then again, that's what they all say . . . 💖🤔💍
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comments. It's good to know that I'm not the only one intimidated by Bath & Body Works sales pressure, LOL! I actually felt pretty accomplished leaving with only two items for about $10. 🧼🌸
