I should just tell you to leave

"I've never seen you this way," Lily looked Boone over. Yes, she knew he could be snide ever so often. He wasn't as sweet as some might imagine. But she liked getting the honest guy that he was. It wasn't like he was argumentive. But she knew he hated moving all of Phil's stuff to Lexi's.

"At least, he's leaving the bed." Boone was still staring at the bare room. His fist clenched like he might want to hit a wall but he didn't.

"It'll be OK," she was brave enough to hold his fist with both hands.

"Will it? Really?" He squinted hard as if he didn't want to think about the next step.

"Will you be alone tonight?" She asked. After all, it was just the two of them in the apartment.

Boone looked at her wide-eyed. He gave her an I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU SAID THAT look. He sort of laughed then.

"Oh, I've got to get this room cleaned up," he sighed.

"I'll help you," she said. He nodded as he went to get the cleaning stuff and a bucket of hot water.

Honestly, Lily didn't think there was that much to clean. It wasn't long until the place smelled lemony fresh. She liked the scent as she helped him wipe everything down. But the bed was naked. The sheets were in the wash.

Evidently, Phil didn't need the bedding, but whoever was moving in didn't even have a bed.

"Do you know, who he is?" She asked.

"Not really," he shrugged. "My mom knows, and so, you know, I can't tell her NO."

"Oh, the only person you can say NO to, is me," Lily told him as if maybe she wasn't that happy with him, after all.

Boone tilted his head and gave her a sigh.

"Why do you do this to me?" Boone's eyes grew wide and he tossed the damp cloth to the floor. That's when Lily zoomed in for a kiss.

She knew it when he kissed her back why he'd been this way for so long. Why couldn't they upgrade their relationship? With a few twists and turns of lopsided lips, holding each other steady they wound down the hall to Boone's room.

The afternoon sun was still heating up, but the curtains were drawn. Really, it was a nice time of the day. And it was happening. He wasn't stopping for any questions just yet and she certainly planned on not telling him anything.

This was no time to talk. It was diving into something she'd been ready for a lot longer than he'd ever know. They peeled each other clothes off and they found the bed like it might be a lifeboat. By now she was used to the weight of him and the landscape of his youthful body. His hands weren't quite calloused as they pushed her locks of hair away from her forehead as they forged on together.

Somehow, she thought it all went so quick. She looked up at him. It was then she noticed how big his ears were. How come she hadn't noticed before. It only made her smile more.

Boone barely had one eye open when he heard the knock on the door. He rose up on his elbows. He wasn't dressed. Not a pair of briefs in sight. "Shit." He whispered to himself. If only it was a salesman he'd let it go, but he knew who it was.

He grabbed the jogging shorts on his side of the room, and stumbled around in the late evening until he found something to wear which ended up being Lily's pink hoodie. If that wasn't enough the sticky condom clung to his big toe. He winced and tucked it under the bed.

"What is it?" Now Lily was awake.

"Just stay here," he told her.

"No. I'm not going to be secret." She reached for the lamp on the other side of the bed.

"Nobody needs to know yet, do they?" He looked at her with his hair in his eyes. Giving her his NOT COOL look. But she grabbed his T-shirt.

"Are you even wearing underwear?" She wanted to know.

"Maybe." OK, that was a lie, but he just needed to answer the door. Of course, she followed him pulling on her bikini panties like it might be a strip tease in reverse.

He sighed, hoping his mother wasn't at the door too.

Thankfully, it was just a guy with a cat carrier.

"Nobody said anything about a cat," Boone found himself saying.

"Nobody said anything about a girlfriend, either." The guy came back with.

Boone winced at him while Lily hugged him from behind. Was he Finn and Oakley's old roommate? They might have met once. Boone sighed but was too tired to be steamed. He wouldn't fuss about the cat.

"You're Dory, aren't you?" Boone said.

He nodded. They didn't shake hands. Boone pointed to the end of the hall where his room would be. Dory went to the room and let out the little black cat.

"I'm Boone by the -"

"I know. You're Oakley's little brother." It sounded as if he'd prepared himself with notes somehow.

"Lily and I can put the bedding on your bed," he told him.

"I'd rather do it myself," he leaned against the bedroom door, holding his cat.

"Sure," Boone nodded. He'd have to go to the laundry room to get it from the dryer.

"I'll go with you," Lily said.

"Put on some pants," he looked back at her bare leg. Nobody else needed to know what they were up to.

  7. Well there you are. They could have gotten dressed telling the door they needed a minute. Who get's a roommate without discussing things like pets first. The plot thickens.

  9. Just when I thought Boone and Lily might be headed for splitsville, you amp up the romance. I love this line:

"They peeled each other's clothes off and they found the bed like it might be a lifeboat."

I do hope that Boone will make an effort to say "yes" to Lily more often!

And it's so perfect that Dory shows up with his cat. As is Boone saying he didn't know about the cat and Dory saying he didn't know about Lily. I can tell that there will be plenty of good plotlines coming from these new roomies! 🐱‍πŸ‘€πŸ’–πŸ’πŸ±‍πŸ‘€πŸ’–πŸ’
