Phil felt he was missing out. Not being around Alfie and Boone. Yes, they had been like a trio. He'd never had that many guy friends. And now Alfie was getting married. Oh, he didn't know what he and Lexi were doing. Actually.
And then he mentioned his diet to Boone when he stopped over at Boone and Dory's. Yeah, he finally met Dory who was cleaning the viti-mix as if it might be carrying mystery germs. Naturally, Dory didn't even look up at him when he said hello.
"Diet?" Boone brought him a fresh brewed coffee.
"I can't have caffeine." Phil wished he could have the coffee. Boone always made a good brew.
"What?" Boone winced as if that was crazy.
"I've gotta get my sperm count up," he said. Now that gave him a glare from Dory. It was as if he didn't want to listen to this. Dory grabbed the cat rubbing up against Boone while he was on the couch. Dory went to Phil's old room.
"How's it going with him?" Phil whispered.
"It's going," Boone shrugged. "But what's so bad about your sperm count?" Boone winced as if this was crazy.
Phil shrugged back. "I gotta eat walnuts and fatty fish." Phil made a face of disgust. "I'm not really a seafood guy."
Boone sighed and shook his head. "What are we gonna do with that Lexi," Boone sipped the cup of coffee he was holding since Phil couldn't have it.
"Maybe it's not you. Maybe it's not supposed to happen with Lexi," Boone told him.
Phil would hate for that to be true. After all, he'd come to depend on Lexi. She made sure he was ready for work and fed him on time. They did everything together. And of course, she was always taking her temperature.
"Stop thinking it's your fault," Boone said. "Maybe she's the one who needs to be on a diet."
"But she says she's fine." He told him.
"Did you have to get checked out too?" Boone wanted to know.
Phil nodded. He said everything was fine.
"So what you're saying," Boone asked as they sat on the couch. "You just need to relax?"
Phil was so tired. He couldn't tell if he was relaxed or not. It felt like being in a science lab at Lexi's.
"So, if you guys don't get pregnant, she doesn't want to marry you?" Boone gave Phil a dead stare. Honestly, Phil hadn't thought that far ahead.
The most common thing is for the girl to get pregnant and the boy to escape the responsibilities of wanting to get married. The end of the narrative was surprising.

ReplyDeleteGreat chapter as always, Ellie:)
PS Thanks so much as always for your support and lovely comment:) And I love that idea of wearing a wig to go incognito! I've been meaning to do even for just doing cosplay, but man, wigs are expensive. Sigh....
Have a great week ahead:)
Uy pobre Phill. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteconundrum in relationship.....
ReplyDeleteHello, Ellie,
ReplyDeleteOh this is too much, too many problems for someone who is starting a relationship, I'm curious what will happen next. Thank you for your comment, it's always a pleasure to read your comments, thank you for that. Have a good week!
Well, that's an interesting ... situation, then.
ReplyDeleteHola!! que interesante esta la historia, tengo ganas de saber que va a pasar. Besos
ReplyDeleteThe FOMO is a real thing.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting chapter.
Cool collague!
Poor Phil! No one wants to feel like a science experiment! And Boone is right; what Phil really needs is to relax. If he's meant to have a baby with Lexi, then he will. Although I'm beginning to think that may not be the case . . .
ReplyDeleteI love the llama in the collage! ๐๐ฆ
