"Oh, GOD, what is she doing?" Izzy was thinking this had to be the worst idea ever. Having a Halloween party.
The rain hit the day before after a few warm windy days. It was as if the world was already off kilter. Hot. Then cold. And there was Lily. No one had even invited her and she came anyway. It didn't make sense.
"I don't even know who she is," Cowan was busy with the apples and sampling cupcakes sandwiched with brownies. If anyone was on a sugar high, it was Cowan.
"Well, best it stays that way?" She gave him the eye. She might have been in a gypsy outfit, but she felt the heart of a kitchen witch tonight. She had to keep an eye on Lily.
Cowan only smirked and gave her a sticky kiss on the cheek. He went off to talk to someone he knew at the drama department about the set that needed tweaking.
"I think she's on something," Izzy said to herself from the kitchen. Lily was really showing her skills with the stomp she was in. And she was all over Mercer too who looked liked like a turtle looking for his lost shell.
"Crap," Izzy was perturbed and no friend of Lily's because as she recalled Izzy was Brick's girlfriend after Lily.
Finally, Brick arrived.
"I didn't think you were going to make it," Izzy rushed to him as if he better get busy with his first ex-girlfriend. Of course, no Harley.
Izzy felt a little sad about that. She was Harley's friend. She just wished THEY (Brick and Harley) communicated like they should. She knew it wasn't over. It couldn't be.
"Where's Cade?" Brick looked at her a little bug-eyed. Of course, Brick tore into the Doritos as if he needed nourishment before he didn anything. He went crazy with the bean and cheese dip with the real jalapenos. He was gulping down a punch made of pineapple juice and Moutain Dew in seconds.
"You're not serving any alcohol, are you?" he asked as if being the Campus Police was his other job.
"Of course, not," Izzy sneered back as if he was just an idiot. But a part of her hoped he was a cop someday. It suited him.
Brick sighed with a nod.
"What about Harley?" Izzy couldn't help but bring her up.
"What about her?" He looked at her as if..... did she know something he didn't know?
"Well, she's not here." Izzy could barely hear herself over the music.
"I know." Brick shrugged as if Izzy was just being impossible. It was then he finally said, they had decided to take a break.
Izzy pressed her lips. She couldn't believe it. She was practically in tears. She looked over her shoulder. Lily was kissing Mercer now. She knew it was for show. And Mercer was helplessly letting her.
"OH GET HER OFF OF HIM!" Izzy demanded. Yes, it was going to be a very long night. And Sterling was sobbing in the corner. Izzy still didn't know what that about.
