Oh, Lord it really brings me down

 "All right, so maybe I do deserve the silent treatment," Naoki shrugged about the matter as they drove back to just where he'd been spending his days. It wasn't like he was on vacation. He wasn't taking a few half days since he never took a vacation, but it was back to the burb where Alfie lived. Boone too.

"I know I am not making you happy, but remember, I am looking out for you." He felt too snug in the passenger seat. He and Tyra liked to drive with the windows down. Yes, he was certain his mother thought he was slumming these days. But he'd met another mother, and well, he didn't care what his mother said; he was in a good mood.

Carol had let him stay that night with Tyra, in her room, no less. And yeah, it was happening. This thing with Tyra. 

He winced, wondering who rocked whose world first. Oh, he was feeling high and he had no substance then nor now. Damn, if Carol didn't make heavely waffles too. Yeah, he was ready to be adopted. He could easily let Tammy go, but not really.

He felt guilty for thinking it. He needed to be by her side. She wanted to show him the house. Still, this moving-in thing with Tyra felt pretty amazing, too. It wasn't like he was taking her away from anything. He'd even gone down to the opening Farmer's Market just to watch Tyra and her sister perform. 

He didn't have to dress up fancy or anything. She liked his gym shorts just as much as he did. And of course, Carol was there too. They drank some red wine with Fressca cheering the girls. It wasn't even noon. Only, it was a good start for the party. He ended buying some smoked meats and grilled corn in the late afternoon. Even chatted with that KC dude that Tyra's sister lived with.

Of course, Tyra left no stone unturned about her past. KC was her first love. Although KC would never know this. Not that he thought Tyra had it bad for KC. Still, he hoped this was more than a summer fling. He wanted it to be the real thing. No way would he ever consider his first, but it felt like a throwback somehow. He was enjoying it and whatever came with it.

Finally, they arrived to the little house in Old Towne. "Are you sure it's big enough?" He winced, thinking there would be no room for him.

"There is a basement," she shrugged.

"Basement?" Naoki didn't like the sound of that, but he followed to investigate. Honestly, it was awfully small, but the windows were new, and so was the kitchen. The livingroom had new wood floors. And the place had three bathrooms. Even one in the basement.

"I already bought it."

His mom, Tammy, was very solemn about it. He could see she was leaving him. Leaving the nice condo, he had passed midtown, which was only a short walk for him. 

He looked down the street as they were coming out of the place. Laughter filled him up. He couldn't help but smile. He could see Tyra's house from her.

"Ma, let's go eat."

"What?"

"I'll give Boone a text, he'll know where to meet us."

He could be kind when he chose to be. No need to fight it, cause he was staying with Tyra tonight. He just wasn't sure she was up to meeting his mother yet.
