"I feel it's starting all over again," KC sighed about this game night Millie wanted him to plan. He found Rafe out recycling where they both lived.
"Why do you have to plan it?" Rafe squinted, looking at KC as if he were a whipped dog now living with Millie.
"Because, she has no time," He shrugged back, holding the bags of recyclables. "It was her mother's idea."
"Then she should do it," Rafe looked at him blankly. He and Ruby couldn't come because she could go into labor anything now. KC was OK with that, since they still didn't say anything to each other. Oddly, it was times like these that he got a word in with Rafe.
"Does Ruby know we even talk?" He felt she could carry a grudge about ex-boyfriends forever. KC didn't want that to happen to Rafe.
"You're pretty much a mute subject," Rafe smirked and took the recyclables from KC.
"I wish you could come over," KC told him. There were some new people that Millie worked with who would be there. "I hate entertaining."
"Oh, but you are an entertainer," Rafe teased. He reminded him how he used to always play his electric guitar in the living room and how all those middle schoolers would come by and watch him from the bay living room window.
"Ha!" He said he never noticed.
"You know, you'll help Millie," Rafe shrugged. "She's too sweet, not too."
"OK, but..but it's just going to be one game, not a bunch, and I want everyone to go home by ten." KC nodded as if it were a plan.
"You be the man, Millie needs you to be. Be fierce and don't have too many snacks. Like no pizza, for sure."
"So you know this from experience, do you?" KC tilted his head.
"You know, how Ruby is, go big or go home."
Rafe sighed. "She knows the money has to go for the little one now. We can't go to 5 Below every Friday. Besides, a lot of stuff is much more than five dollars. But she did find a lot of trivia games there. You want to borrow some?"
"Oh no. Nope. We'll make do with Apples and Oranges." KC winced. He needed to get back and vacuum since it was a promise to Millie.
