"Criminal Justice?" Brick almost said, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" But knew that would be wrong. After all, they were moving Lily into the dorm. Yes, it was goodbye to her studio apartment and all the spectacular times they had there. They still weren't sure what they were going to do about the sex situation, but at the moment, there were other things to talk about. "Are you sure about majoring in it? Just last week, you were saying horticulture was your spirit major."
"I can't do it. I can't. It's so hard and my skin just can't take it," she explained with her arms crossed while he was loading up the truck that he'd borrowed from Oliver's Dad.
"Whatever," Brick shrugged back. Lily was good at changing her mind about a lot of things. They did get to spend some time with Oliver and Gabby while they were helping Carson. He couldn't say he thought Gabby was all that helpful, but he wouldn't go there either. It seemed they both had a lot to talk about when it came to Gabby's sister, who was Lily's stepmother. Of course, she wouldn't go and see them when they were home. She was even shy about seeing her Grandmother, but he knew in the end that she was happy they stopped in to see her.
Being with Lily wasn't exactly basketball, but still, Brick was in it to win it. He supposed. But he did find himself wondering if he trusted her completely. He didn't like it like this. He wanted to be her YES GUY. Although it worried him a little that he might be left high and dry if she found a new flavor a lot like choosing a major.
Deep down, he knew he'd be ready for it. He had a scholarship, and he was a starter this year on the college team. So yeah, he'd better be In It To Win if he wanted to keep his scholarship.
It was good she didn't hear him. Maybe she did. She looked as if she was university-ready ready and Boone with Maddie was behind her. Or at least at the moment. He sensed that she would be the last person to say she was ever depressed. Before he could think much else, she grabbed him by the collar of his tee and brought him down to her lips and kissed him passionately.
"Let's do this," she then said.
"OK." He smiled brightly and got into the truck. First, they needed to drop off the keys at the apartment complex office. But he did wonder if she was thinking of something else. "You know, we have to go. We have to move you into the dorm."
She fretted, but got in the truck and they were on their way.
