"It's not that big of a thing, you know," Gabby said about the matter, and Oliver nodded back.
"Right."
It was his answer every time it was brought up. He knew how burned they'd both been by first marriages. It was best to let it alone. Besides, he was a working teacher now, and she worked for the City. It was good. Yet he still felt they were hanging on by a thread.
"Now, why would you feel that way?" His truest of friends, Axton, asked while they were on their Saturday morning basketball court date that always ended up in a long coffee break and snacks they brought from home.
"Oh, I don't know."
"You're depressed, man." Axton told him.
Oliver thought he might be crying. Yes, it was all on him. He gave his friend a shrug.
"Well, do something about it." Axton was serious. Oliver nodded. Yes, he was overwhelmed, but somehow needed to keep going. That's when Axton gave him a card of who he was seeing for mental health.
Oliver looked at him, surprised, but he took the card and held on to it.
