"So when are you coming back?" Mille put on her best smile when Chili walked into the coffee shop alone. Millie couldn't help to be shaking in her boots just a little. After all, she wasn't exactly aware of an inspection.
Chili just smiled, yet remained aloof as she looked around at the Halloween decorations. It wasn't too creepy. Most were decorations that Crystal had found at Dollar Tree.
Millie remained even-lipped as Chili sat down at the counter. Millie offered her coffee, but Chili shook her head, no. She asked for something caffeine-free.
Millie nodded. She rattled off all the new caffeine-free drinks they had, even one with pumpkin spice. "But you might like the Maple and Ginger tea."
Chili smiled and said, "That sounded nice." She asked her how things were going. Were supplies coming in? Did she need anything?
"It's good," Millie nodded and admitted that her mom came and helped on occasions. "The weekends are busy." Millie didn't want to dare ask for more help, but it could get stressful.
Chili cradled her warm cup of tea. Finally, after a few sips and hearing her say how Maple and Ginger went well together, Chili said, "I'm just coming back part-time."
"Part-time?" Millie looked at her blankly.
Chili nodded. She said she would look over reports from home and check supply list daily. "I'll be coordinating schedules and people working."
"Oh." Millie wasn't sure she was relieved or not.
"Junie will be coming in to help on weekends."
"Junie?" Millie did her best to smile, but she felt a frown persisting. Did Chili know what an immature brat she could be?
Millie was certain now. There was no way to get comfortable with this job.
Millie was apprehensive about Chili's attitude of only wanting to work part-time.
